I replaced hardware keeping sam eOS installation. So old BOINC app statistics not relevant to new host. Would like to get new host ID w/o complete BOINC reinstall (preferably w/o tasks trashing). How? SETI apps news We're not gonna fight them. We're gonna transcend them. |

Have an empty cache. Fake the <rpc_seqno> in client_state - set it low. (BOINC will think you're cheating by running two machines with the same ID, and split them). |

The long route is to set NNT, run cache empty and wait for all tasks to validate, then be removed from the list. When the task list is empty, delete the hostID. When you then start BOINC again/ANT, it'll get a new ID. |

Raistmer, do you realize you currently have 84 different Host IDs going back to 2005? Why don't you reuse one of those that only has a couple hundred credits? Just duplicate your BOINC data folder, and name the one you want to keep with the tasks something different. On the one you want without tasks and a new ID, remove everything except the client_state.xml. Open client_state.xml and change the numbers to say, this one, https://setiathome.berkeley.edu/show_host_detail.php?hostid=658161 Change the <hostid>xxxxxxx</hostid> to <hostid>658161</hostid> Change the <rpc_seqno>xxx</rpc_seqno> to <rpc_seqno>39</rpc_seqno> Now when you start BOINC it will see the numbers and assign Host ID 658161. It works for me anyway. When you want to switch back to the other ID, name the new data folder something else and rename the data folder you want to use. I wonder how many others have that many Dead Hosts IDs... |

The long route is to set NNT, run cache empty and wait for all tasks to validate, That would be a very long wait. Most clear within a month, but there are always those that take over 2 months to clear. I've got a WU from late February that won't clear until the middle of this month (if then- First wingman timed out, second wingman looks like they'll time out. 3rd time lucky, 4 months later?) Have an empty cache. New cross-project ID was generated. But computers page doesn't show new host. Old one with its statistics... SETI apps news We're not gonna fight them. We're gonna transcend them. |

New cross-project ID was generated. There have been a few days over the last week or so where it's taken most of a day before my Credit has been updated on my account page. And to add to that- the web site, account & tasks & forums have just gone in to extreme slow motion mode. *fingers crossed this post will make it through* *and naturally since posting that everything is OK again* Grant Darwin NT |

Once all the tasks clear, the Details page will offer the option to "Delete Host". When I updated the last of my Windows 7 machines to Linux, I couldn't merge because I changed the name. {Didn't think Keith-Windows7 name appropriate for a new Linux machine} So assigned my old Host ID to the new Linux host and deleted the old Windows 7 machine when the tasks cleared.
