Dear friends,
After years of using BOINC for 2 projects, I was notified this AM that there is a new version of BOINC. I downloaded the 9Mb file only, and started install. The Install Wizard very neatly deleted my old BOINC, then told me I lacked authorization to install the new version. Not helpful! Where do I (re-)start?

What is the exact message?
Can you tell which BOINC package you downloaded?
Was it boinc_7.10.2_windows_intelx86.exe, or boinc_7.10.2_windows_x86_64.exe?
Do you know which BOINC you had installed before? You can check that in the stdoutdae.txt file in the data directory. Look for lines stating [i]Starting BOINC client version x.x.x for windows_*, where '*' is either intelx86, or x86_64.
