How big is your carbon footprint from brewing beer? Considering the CO2 off gassing to the atmosphere greenhouse problem?

That may well be offset by the carbon that is sequestered in the yeast and the alcohol...

;-)

Still interesting to compare.

A good question there Admiral and I have no idea (you could measure it if you like), but so long as the C2 H6 O content comes out good that's all that really matters isn't it? ;-)

Cheers.

Message 2061123 - Posted: 11 Nov 2020, 2:07:34 UTC

After pulling out an old mower to get a fuel line off of to replace the 1 on an even older mower. It worked out well as they both used the same size line, but old 1 was much longer so that worked out well as I could trim the bits off that were already on barbs off and I still wound up with a slightly longer fuel line to replace the other. Then after repacking everything away again I decided to do all the trimming and edges around the yard 1st before testing my repair. Rule #1 of the yardman's book, always do trimming edges before mowing as there's less to clean up after. ;-)

Anyhow after getting that done I'm enjoying a few beers before I go out and test that repair while trying to cripple myself getting the whole yard done in 1 day instead of 2, but then again I've nothing to do tomorrow so I can use all of it to recover and a chance of rain is expected anyway.

Well my 2nd beer is gone so I better get another refill as I still don't feel lubricated, umm, rested enough yet to push the mower around the yard.

Cheers.

Hey! Go careful!!

There's that old song about a drunken sailor...

Is there the Kiwi equivalent for mowing wobbly lines?...

;-)

Add water for a good healthy measure?

;-) ;-)

Cheers!

I wouldn't know, you'd have to ask a Kiwi about that. ;-)

Anyhow the job has been finished, but I'm not doing the whole lot in 1 day again. :-O

Does that include the farming plot and an extra sized plot for a Coronavirus winter?? (Or summer drought??) :-P

Also a good excuse for some medicinal muscle relaxant ;-)

Good going :-)

Nope as I only have a small 1200sq.m CBD village block that thankfully the house with shop attached and the shed take up half of that. :-)

With the way the old body feels ATM I might just give the beer a miss today and go straight for the rum instead.

Anyhow I just checked my brews, topped up their airlocks and the beer brew looks to be almost ready, but I may have to turn the heater pad under it on tonight just to make sure as its temp has dropped a bit overnight, while the spirit wash is still bubbling along merrily.so it still has a few days at least to go yet.

Damn this resting business is boring and there's still 90 minutes to go until LLB time. :-(

Cheers.

Move over beer. This is a job for alcohol.

I was going to bottle beer today, but it looks like I'll have the ice packs around my right elbow for another day yet before it'll be ok to be pulling down on the capper lever so that can wait until tomorrow now.

Cheers.

I just checked my spirit wash and topped up the airlock for the usual 2nd time (I must really have a look around to see if bigger airlocks can be had), but it looks like that still has a couple of days left to go yet before it's ready to process.

Anyhow Beer O'clock is in progress now. ;-)

Cheers.

Is that for a chewy beer? Some super-dark plum porter perhaps?? ;-)

Enjoy!

I've about got my brewroom cleaned up from yesterday's massive day long effort with about 4.5L of unholy water still to be reduced down to 40% alc/vol, but does doing that on a Sunday turn unholy water into holy water?

Anyhow, with 4 hrs still to go until Sunday Beer O'clock arrives here I should have all evidence of what I was doing yesterday cleared away well before then (unless 1 looks into a certain cupboard to see the stock build up). ;-)

Now I'm going to enjoy a coffee break before I get back in there to finish it all off.

[edit] Well that 50L spirit wash was turned into 18L of drinkable 40%a/v ethyl-alcohol.

Cheers.

Brewroom? Sounds more like a distillery.

You have to brew the wash 1st before it can be distilled and then there's the beer. ;-)

Anyhow everything has now been cleaned up and put away with an hour to spare before Beer O'clock arrives so that creates a dilemma, what to do for that hour?

Cheers.

During a break in the weather this afternoon I went across to the supermarket and grabbed another 2 cans of lager wort with 2 kilos of dextrose along with 16 kilos of white sugar then I can fire up the brewroom again in the morning to do another 58L beer brew along with another 50L spirit wash so tomorrow it can rain all it likes.

Cheers.
