Well the aroma of yeast flatulence is starting to thin out now in my brewroom so most of the sugar has now been converted to alcohol, but it'll still be a week before it's ready for the next process. Anyhow, I better get some "track rations" ready for my liquid lunch break today. ;-) Have a good day everyone. Cheers. |

Hoppy Halloween! I know Wiggo is not a fan of flavored beer, but a pumpkin ale sounds good right now. ![]() |

Imperial Pumpkin Stout. Honestly I’m more of an IPA guy, but it was quite delicious. Seti@Home classic workunits: 29,492 CPU time: 134,419 hours ![]() ![]() |

Honestly I’m more of an IPA guy, but it was quite delicious. Thar's one of the tragedies in my life. I live in the state of Washington, one of the major hops growing regions in the world and I don't care for real hoppy beers such as most IPAs. |

Honestly I’m more of an IPA guy, but it was quite delicious. I only recently developed a taste for IPA's. A microbrewery near me makes some good ones, but the problem is they are always changing what they offer, and when I discover something I like, they don't have it anymore. https://gravelybrewing.com/beer/ ![]() |

This afternoon, I tried the special edition of a bourbon barrel stout this brewery - http://goodwood.beer/ - has on tap. There had been a news article about it here - https://www.leoweekly.com/2018/10/plenty-drink-louisville-beer-week/ - so I decided to try it. It was good, and I would have had my growler filled with it, but they told me they aren't producing enough of it to sell it in that volume. ![]() |

G'morning everyone, from a wet and windy start in the highlands down under. After spending the last 5 days out in the beer garden trying to stay cool in 30-32C temps (with a few friends and lots of chilled beer) we return to temps here in the low to mid 20's for the next 6 days and today is prefect to turn the heat on in my brewroom and produce some more alcohol. Anyhow, I'll have 1 more coffee before getting to work. Cheers. |

This place called Growler USA is coming to a suburb near me. 100 taps, and the way I understand it, I can take my growler from home and self-serve. ![]() |

G'day everyone, from a nice spring start in the highlands down under (but a shower or storm is expected later this afternoon). Well I've finally got my brewroom back in order, after a marathon 2 day effort in there while it was cool, and I hooked up my trailer to move my new tenants in also this morning so I'm going to declare that Beer O'clock commence 30mins earlier than usual today (it is Saturday here after all). :-) Anyhow, I hope that you all enjoy your weekend and be safe. Now I'm off up to the pub on the top of the hill. Cheers. |

I do know a few people that will drink a 50/50 mix of light and dark ale and some that will put a dash of lemonade or Coke in theirs, but on some cold days I may have a dash of Stone's Original Green Ginger Wine in my Lagers. This place called Growler USA is coming to a suburb near me. 100 taps, and the way I understand it, I can take my growler from home and self-serve. Anyhow, I've done my Sunday morning tip run and it's now time to party. ;-) Have a good day all. Cheers. |

G'morning everyone, from the highlands down under. I took a break from my spring cleaning yesterday to bottle up another 54L of beer and today will be washing day, then I'll get back to that spring cleaning. Anyhow I'll have a cuppa and then get into it before Beer O'clock gets here (which is still 5.5hrs away yet). Cheers. |

Just found out that they can't let people fill a growler and take it home. This place is across the river from Kentucky, in the state of Indiana, which doses not allow that sort of transaction. They told me over the phone they hope the law will change. Phooey. I have plenty of microbreweries around me here in Louisville that are more than happy to legally dispense beer into my growler. ![]() |

G'day everyone, from a day that just can't seem to make up its mind on what to do in the highlands down under. As I take a sugar hit break here from working away downstairs I'm planning the timing of putting down my next brew, but it looks like early next week for it to be cool enough to kick that off ATM. Wouldn't there be some sort of state laws over there about crossing state boundaries with it Gordon? Anyhow, I better finish off this sugar hit and then get back downstairs. Cheers. |

Wouldn't there be some sort of state laws over there about crossing state boundaries with it Gordon? Well, if I buy a growler's full of beer here locally in Louisville, Kentucky, and drive across the bridge to the state of Indiana, nobody except me would know. In the case of Indiana right now, they aren't letting anybody at all walk off the premises with a growler of their beer. ![]() |

I'm no stranger to microbreweries, as there are many in Louisville, and they usually exist within a pub that also serves food. The thing is, though, I've liked mead for many years, but rarely have had any since most microbrew places just do beer. I was excited to hear about a new spot that made several meads, so earlier this evening I decided to check out Hive and Barrel Meadery. Strange place. For one thing, it's out in the middle of the nether regions to me, and when I pulled into it's gravel driveway and saw a big barn, I knew I was in for something different, though not really totally unexpected. When I walked in the door, it was fairly crowded, but it was a haphazard arrangement of heavy wood tables and chairs, and there didn't seem to be a central bar or place to go ask to be served. People were sitting around and eating, so they have food, and I think they also brew beer on the premises, but my main goal was to check out the meadery part of the operation. The people at the tables did not look like they were from my neck of the woods, and I'm sure I didn't look like I was from theirs, either. I was basically just confused about what was going on, and somebody finally came up to me and said hello, and I asked about the meadery. The fellow said, "come with me", and led me out of the barn, and into another structure where a big burly lumberjack-looking fellow in a white coat looked at me, and asked the other fellow to take me back to where I started, and wait there. He eventually came out and sat down with me and shook my hand and apologized that they weren't really open - their license for selling the mead they brew is only good for outside sales, meaning in the beer garden in the back, which is an old greenhouse, but without the glass. I expressed my interest in at least tasting their product, and he had me go back in a laboratory-looking room that had the steel contraptions where the mead was being made. He then took me out to the empty and cold and wet beer garden, and told me to wait. When he returned, he brought 5 bottles and 5 little cups, and had me taste each one. The maple was my favorite, so I bought a bottle, but when I asked him about filling my growler from home, he said they weren't licensed to do that yet, and the whole reason he took me outside for the tastings is because legally he couldn't even let me do that inside. Then, after I paid, he had me go out another door with the bottle all wrapped up in newspaper, and walk around the building to get back to my car. I was ready to go home by that point, anyway. It's in the fridge, now, and should be a nice Christmas present to myself. :~) ![]() |
