I have to admit to not drinking as much beer as I would like but I have noticed my shirts seem to be a little tighter round the middle. However last Sunday we had the Croydon food festival where the main road just a 2 minute walk from me, is totally closed and all the restaurants from around the area have stalls. The weather was hot and the smells of all the different types of food cooking were great. This image really sums it up, cooking smoke from the stalls!! This was an hour after it opened, I went back an hour before it closed and you could hardly move! Also the local brewery had a stall http://www.thecronx.com/index.html Which reminded me how much I like their So I am having a couple this evening Cheers |

G'morning everyone, from a rare wet day in the highlands down under. Well it rained all day yesterday here and it's expected to continue until this evening with a possible storm thrown in. Anyhow I'm still waiting for that cold morning to put that brew down, but that may happen in the next few days. I'm happy that you enjoyed yourself Bernie and in a bit over 4hrs I'll enjoy a few beers myself. ;-) Hello Annie and Charles. Cheers. |

Looks like a nice time, Bernie. You know my tastes... I think I would try the Cronx, "Entire" Porter. Thanks to everyone for all the Birthday wishes. The mind is a weird and mysterious place |

G'morning everyone, from another relatively warm start in the highlands down under. Well I turned off the Borg yesterday hoping for cooler conditions this morning so I can put that brew down, but it didn't work so I'll shut the Q6600 down tonight instead (being the hotter of my 2 winter rigs) to see if I have better luck tomorrow morning. Anyhow, seeing as Beer O'clock is only 4hrs away now I better get a couple of chores done. Cheers. |

Well I decided to leave both winter rigs off overnight, but I still couldn't get it cold enough in here to fire up my brewroom's gas ring burner this morning. :-( Oh well, I'll try it again tonight, but the forecast isn't looking good now until Sunday to return to those very frosty starts where the ring burner will come in handy. Cheers. |

102 F, with a heat index of 117, based on 56% relative humidity outside right now, and I'm going to cut the grass. Sunny, too, so, I'll be wearing a hat. :~) Guinness and Blue Moon in the fridge waiting for me if I don't die in the heat. The mind is a weird and mysterious place |

Just finished the front yard, and my weather station says it's 105, but it's in the sun, so it's registering higher than reality, which is probably in the low 90's, but the humidity is palpable, at 59%. The mind is a weird and mysterious place |

G'morning everyone, from yet another relatively warm start in the highlands down under. Well we've been having some some damp and overcast days here lately and even going back to running just my 2 main rigs here it's still too warm to fire up my brewroom (I need the temp to be below 17C in the morning, but 21C has been the lowest I can achieve), but the experts reckon that our frosty mornings will return next week. A few mates of mine have been on my back lately about getting my BBQ downstairs active again (after a 4yr rest) and that happened yesterday. Then a few mates turned up with some bits of lamb and other things to throw on it and we made ourselves comfortable in out of the wind and rain for the afternoon. A couple of them were disappointed though because it wasn't cold enough to light up my wood burning heater (it was 21C inside, 16C and felt like 12C outside). Oh well it's now time to open for business and start cleaning up the results of yesterday. Cheers. |

my parents and I did go out for dinner though. Well, I don't actually expect you to "know" the restaurant, BUT, you should know "of it"... Bridges restaurant in Danville... (I'm sure that if you Google it, you'll get the movie reference that the restaurant debuted in...) A few decades ago, it was originally a Chinese restaurant, but it got bought out, remodeled, renamed, and while all this was going on - a FAMOUS movie used it on location! It's NOT my favorite restaurant though... I prefer Indian food, good Chinese food, Mexican, Italian, etc... Bridges is TOO "upscale" and expensive for my particular taste. [EDIT:] hmmm... Actually, I just Googled it myself... The movie reference doesn't come up, just the restaurant Web Link... Bridges Restaurant, Danville, CA. Mrs. Doubtfire was the movie, though... I got Robin Williams' autograph while shooting occurred. I was trying to get Pierce Brosnan's, too... TL TL TimeLord04 Have TARDIS, will travel... Come along K-9! Join Calm Chaos |

I did find this snippet TL The many characters Williams played on screen portrayed plenty of wonderful food moments. Below are four standout examples from his work. First up is two scenes from Hook (1991), where Williams steps into his role as Peter Pan by imagining a glorious banquet (and then starting a colorful food fight). Next is the restaurant scene from Mrs. Doubtfire (1993), in which Williams' double life as an actor and a nanny in drag come to head at the Danville, CA restaurant Bridges. Food allergy scares ensue. Then there's a scene from Toys (1992), which finds Williams lunching in a cafeteria. Do keep an eye out for the anti-artificial sugar rant. Lastly is a scene from The Fisher King (1991), which finds Williams out to dinner at a Chinese restaurant and performing his signature improvised comedy with only a minimal amount of speaking. Williams is, of course, brilliantly funny in all of these clips so go, watch: Stephen |

While I was out today I popped into my favourite "unusual beer" outlet, it is a well stocked food market in central Croydon. However it specialises in unusual beer. Here, after a lot of debating I saw an unusual can Nothing on the front but what looked like a cloud and the words IPA Citra Enigma, Intresting. On the back Cloudwater Brew Co based in Manchester, who I had never heard of, there were several different cans form the same brewery There was no price label so intrigued I asked the price, £5 ($6,61) a can!! Now a perfectly good beer can be got for around £1.80($2.38). So what was so special. I decided to treat myself and brought two cans. It pours a cloudy gold. And it has a full bodied hoppy citrus taste, probably one of the best IPA's I have tasted, perfect for a very hot summers evening (Temp 26C-79F at 8.30pm) However at £5 a can I doubt I will be drinking this very often!! For those non beer drinkers IPA is India Pale Ale and is a type of beer |

Very interesting, Bernie. What do you think causes it to be so expensive? Small batch? I don't see anything on the ingredients that looks too exotic, except for maybe that London Fog yeast, lol. I would try it, but at that price point, I'm afraid I'd have to limit my consumption. The mind is a weird and mysterious place |

Looks and sounds like a nice refreshing drink, what size cans are they? In Australia the average price for a 375ml can of beer is between $3.80-$4.50 depending of make, and international beer can be as high as $6.00 or more.. |
