I've never understood the differences between bourbons, whiskeys, and Scotch. I do know I tried a Scotch many moons ago, and it was too harsh for my tastes.

Well, the last Bourbon I got into was JD Single Barrel Proof, which is 133 Proof and is $54 for a 750ml Bottle! I went from this to the Grangestone Bourbon Cask Scotch and I'd SWEAR that the Grangestone Bourbon Cask tastes just like JD Single Barrel, BUT is only 41% Alcohol - so LESS KICK to the Grangestone! 😀 That's when I decided to branch out and try other Scotches.

G'afternoon everyone, from another warm summer's day in the highlands down under.

Bourbon is made primarily from corn mash Gordon. ;-)

After a lot of convincing I angling the old girl into the center of the shed this morning (just because I can now) to give her a vac and service (while doing another job that needed the compressor going for).

She seemed to have a problem with needing to be clean and ready to stay in a clean and ready shed. :-O

Anyhow, I'm now trying out a new spirit mix today, Vodka with a half strength raspberry and apple cordial mix and it's not bad at all. :-D

Cheers.

I should know that, being a Kentucky boy.

Anybody remember Billy Beer? President Jimmy Carter's brother, Billy, had his own brand of beer for a little while. I heard it was pretty bad, and I doubt it was exported, but I occasionally see a can or two at an antique store.

G'day everyone, from a warm and muggy Good Friday in the highlands down under.

Well after a trip into town this morning the temp here has reached a muggy 26C (well 60% humidity is muggy for us that usually have a 20-40% range) so it's now time for a beer or 3 before the cricket begins (and before I dehydrate). ;-)

Cheers.

G'morning everyone, from a warm, but muggy, Australia Day in the highlands down under.

Well everything is now ready. The car is out of the shed, an extra table and chairs have been set up, the BBQ is ready and the grog is cold. The jukebox is going and the cricket is on (but muted) so I can have a rest for an hour before the festivities begin here.

Have a great weekend.

Cheers.

What sort of BBQ are you having? Pork or beef?

Our BBQ's are different to your's Gordon. ;-)

So long as we have a bit of steel over a heat source we're happy, 3 house bricks and a plough disc will do. :-)

But there are steaks, chops and snags (beef, pork and lamb) with onions, capsicums and mushrooms for the BBQ plus a potato bake and coleslaw.

All quick and easy so that we have more time for drinking and socialising. :-D

Cheers.

Aha! BBQ time.
I suggest you all learn about how to make a perfect BBQ dish aka Shashlik.

Served with some Beer or Kvass.
Perhaps some alternative much stronger beverage as well. You know it's party time:)

Even with the 4hr power outage here a great Aussie Day was had by all and the last of the guests left here just 30mins ago.

Now there's just 2 days left of this long weekend to go. :-D

Moonin I had the beer fridge downstairs fired up with my beer and some spirits and mixers, but some casks of wine and some low alcoholic beer also found their way into it (some others brought their own Eskys with their favourite beverage and more food).

It might take me an hour or so to clean up, after I have a sleep, and before they all turn up again to finish the rest of the food off (not to mention the grog that's still left over).

Cheers.

Anyone heard from Grant? I got my Christmas card back today, the mail said it was undeliverable.

G'morning everyone, from a cool and windy start in the highlands down under.

Well I don't usually brew during summer (because of the heat), but as stocks are starting to get a little low and it's a cool morning I decided it's a good time to put my first brew for this year down.

Cheers.

It was disgusting. One day I had my winter coat loaded with Billy Beer. I went out onto the local frozen lake, and couldn't even give the beer away. Nobody liked it. I am at Walmart now, but as soon as my wife gets out of the store, I will head home and begin drinking every drop of beer I can find.

What would you compare it to? Pabst? Or worse?

Way, way worse. Literally it was the worst beer I ever tasted, and I have had beers from all over the world.
For some reason, tonight, I drank 17 swallows of moonshine. Now, it is time for beer. I have beer from all over the world, but Budweiser is my staple. It is cheap, and my system is used to it. my favorites are the Belgian Ales, or more specifically, the Trappist Ales.

Chimay Grande Reserve is awesome!
