Hi all,
I have 1 of my 3 computers crunching Seti@Home tasks which is no longer able to communicate properly with the server(s). I have included the log below.
In my office I have 2 Windows 7 64 machines, and a Ubuntu 17.04 64 all running latest version of BOINC. All go through same network switch and firewall. No changes in network design or administration have occurred.
I have restarted this Windows machine numerous times. - no go
Uninstalled and reinstalled BOINC -no go
Waited days to see if things would get caught up at server end. -no go
Reviewed numerous posts on this board about similar problems, tried downgrading to HTTP 1 - no go
Seems my client connects to server, but there is a communication problem, and I get dropped like this:

Hi there, I suspect your problem is this one and that you should try to set the amount of tasks to report at the same time to a much smaller amount.
You can do that with the <max_tasks_reported>N</max_tasks_reported> option in cc_config.xml

Try to start low, like 4, then work your way up. Remember there's a 5 minute delay between all reports.

(I did ask that this thread be moved to the Number Crunching forum before I noticed you were trying to report so many tasks. It may still be something else, someone else's eyes going over the report is always welcome.)

I made the change from 0 to 4 in <max_tasks_reported>4</max_tasks_reported> option, and I have at least a start. I was able to get 4 more tasks, but none were reported. I'll wait a couple of hours to see if things get caught up, and report back.

If 4 is too much as well - which is possible - decrease it further. If 4 however works, try to increase the value. You don't want to do 50 x 4 reports + 5min 3 second waits in between.

Update- So far 60 tasks have been reported, and I have 36 new tasks, so things are correcting.

Followup question - Any idea how this machine got such a big backlog of completed WUs, such that it couldn't communicate with the server? Why weren't the completed WUs reported over the last week or two, and replaced with new WUs?

5 days on, and I'm stuck again. Still have <http_1_0>1</http_1_0> and <max_tasks_reported>2</max_tasks_reported> set in cc_config.xml. 116 WUs ready to be reported. Having max task reported set at 4 worked for a while, but I don't know how long. Getting reset again after client connects to server. Current log:

Are you using an internet security suite of some kind on that machine that maybe blocking your connection to the servers? (this has happened before)

I do not have a security suite. We have Microsoft's Forefront Endpoint AV. This dropped connection occurs whether this AV is active or not. I have 3 computers crunching WUs which are routed through the same gateway and firewall. The other two continue to work as expected, and connect appropriately to report and download WUs. This machine has been chugging away for years until the end of April, when I noticed my stats dropping. And this machine connects to the server, but the server drops this connection for some reason.

FWIW, I have reset the project. Lost 200 WUs, oh well. New ones are downloading. Hope this works. I'll update later today.
