I am asking out of curiosity is anybody a member of leyline.gg? I am interested to know if it is worth joining or not. Looks like I would be able to contribute roughly 120 LLP a day since I run for roughly 12 hours a day. Wondering what the LLP gets used for? I have had a read around the site, however haven't been able to find this sort of information

From a quick look, to me that looks all very suspicious of a 'shell' company startup commercializing (and profiting from) freely given volunteer computing.

Throw in the current top buzz acronym of 'Helping out for COVID' and away they go...

In my opinion, far better to donate your computer time, and electricity and your time, to the trustworthy truly well known academia.

Keep searchin',

I had similar thoughts after visiting the website.
Gift cards? Scam as how can one provide monetary value for nothing?
One can only know for certain by joining & downloading "work units".
No thanks.

If they are genuinely aware of Boinc, then surely, their website would have been more detailed.

You're welcome. I don't know just how many Boinc projects there has been but I have crunched 53(stats only show 52 - don't know what happened with Reisalsieve).
They all had one thing in common - what they were crunching & why. The ones I felt interested in, I crunched.
This one, sorry too vague for me.

So it'll be a year in hibernation soon and my SETI rig just sits around (usually off) and the only use it gets are when my boyfriend and myself setup a Minecraft LAN since it's Threadripper loves MC. Does anyone think that we will ever start crunching again? I keep going back and forth on selling the rig but I know if I do I'll regret it....

I hope everyone is doing good I miss talking to everyone even if it was just questions on how to get the most out of my computer lol!

I doubt SETI will ever come back. My opinion. But unless you need the cash, why not just sit on the computer and put it in the closet.

Or run it on other deserving projects. Plenty to choose from other than SETI.

Plenty of people running 5,6 . .8 year old hardware on projects now. The Threadripper will still be a powerhouse 10 years from now.

Just brought a new PC, and unlike previous machines this one will not have Boinc installed sadly, as Seti@home was all I wanted to do, I tried a few other projects but did not stay with any of them.

It will be for gaming, which is my main hobby now.

It comes from a PC Builder and will hopefully be able to play Cyberpunk 2077 at high and stable FPS which my current machine cannot do !

Specs:

Processor: Intel Core i7-10700K CPU, 8 Cores / 16 Threads, 3.8 - 5.1GHz
Graphics Card: Gigabyte GeForce RTX 3070 8GB GDDR6 Graphics Card
Memory: 16GB DDR4 2666MHz Memory (2 x 8GB Sticks)
Motherboard: Asus TUF B460M-PLUS (WI-FI) Motherboard

All smart choices in every category. Not the highest performance and not the most expensive but 95% of the top-shelf performance at 50-75% of the cost.
Congratz . . . . and good gaming fortune to you.

Keith convinced me to join him at Universe. I still do Einstein but not in the force that I used to. I might switch more to Universe but it depends on the weather lol. I need some GPU work to keep the house warm.

Well only Einstein Gravity Wave work is safe currently if you have any card newer than Pascal generation. If you have Pascal or older, then Gamma Ray Pulsar work is still safe.
