Not a good look.

Review into London's Metropolitan Police following murder of Sarah Everard finds racism, misogany and institutional homophobia in force.

London's Metropolitan Police is institutionally racist, misogynistic and homophobic and unable to police itself, according to an independent review, adding pressure on the Met's new chief to reform Britain's biggest police force.

The review was commissioned after a serving officer was sentenced to life in prison for the rape and murder of Sarah Everard in 2021, a case that shocked the country and put a spotlight on the force's broader work culture.

"This report is rigorous, stark and unsparing" Louise Casey, who led the review, said in its foreword.

"Its findings are tough and for many will be difficult to take. But it should leave no one in any doubt about the scale of the challenge."

Ms Casey, a member of parliament's upper house, found severe failings across the Met that required "radical" reform.

"We have found widespread bullying, discrimination, institutional homophobia, misogyny and racism, and other unacceptable behaviours," the report said....

So no change then.
The report notes that in 1972, on his appointment as commissioner of the force, Sir Robert Mark said he had "never experienced…blindness, arrogance and prejudice on anything like the scale accepted as routine in the Met".
The report immediately adds that the Met is a very different organisation today. But five decades on, Louise Casey says: "We have found those cultures alive and well".

How many ex-cops is the count up to now for Jan.6 and is anyone keeping count?

Ex-Boston officer charged with assaulting cop in Jan. 6 riot.

And then there's the mighty whitey 1 who went missing for a while.

Suspected white supremacist cop had disappeared.

Maybe he was getting the tattoo done at the time.

There are lowlifes everywhere.

Former Sydney prison officer sentenced to 23 years in jail for sexually assaulting inmates.

A former chief prison officer from Sydney has been sentenced to 23 years in jail for abusing his position to sexually assault female inmates over several years.

Wayne Gregory Astill shook his head at times as he faced the Downing Centre District Court on Friday, and learned he would spend at least 15 years and four months behind bars.

Astill was last year found guilty by a jury of 27 charges, which included counts of aggravated sexual and indecent assault, and admitted to another seven offences.

The court on Friday heard he sexually assaulted several inmates, one of whom was pregnant at the time while working at Dillwynia Correctional Centre near Windsor.

For sexual acts and intimate relationships the court heard were inappropriate but consensual, the 66-year-old pleaded guilty to seven counts of wilful misconduct in public office.....

Homeland Security Accuses Top San Jose Police Union Official of Smuggling Fentanyl into the U.S.
The executive director of the San Jose police officers’ union has been charged with buying and distributing fentanyl for more than eight years according to a complaint filed Wednesday in U.S. District Court in San Jose by the U.S. Attorney's Office for Northern California.

... The complaint filed this week in San Jose said Segovia used her police union office computers and her personal computers, and on at least one occasion, the union’s UPS account, to order thousands of opioids and other pills to her home and agreed to distribute the drugs elsewhere in the United States.

Just another lowlife cop breaking the law for his own benefit.

Former Victoria Police officer pleads guilty to misusing his position to pursue sexual relationships.

A former Victorian police officer who admitted to misusing his position to pursue sexual relationships with three vulnerable women, has appeared before the County Court in a bid to avoid jail.

Brett Johnson, 42, pleaded guilty to 10 charges of Misconduct in Public Office for offending against nine women between October 2010 and July 2019.

One charge related to Johnson engaging in a sexual relationship with a witness of a crime, while two others related to pursuing intimate relationships with vulnerable women.

The other seven charges were for unauthorised access of Victoria Police's Law Enforcement Assistance Program (LEAP), a database that contains sensitive information including licence details, photographs, addresses, phone numbers and details of interactions with Victoria Police.

Johnson's defence lawyer Abbie Roodenburg said he often accessed LEAP when he was "bored".....

Oh dear. :-O

New Mexico police responding to domestic violence call visit wrong address, fatally shoot resident inside.

The New Mexico State Police released additional information Thursday on a deadly shooting that happened the day prior in Farmington after officers mistakenly responded to the wrong home and shot one of its occupants to death.

In a Thursday statement, the NMSP said an officer with the Farmington Police Department fatally shot the victim, identified as Robert Dotson, 52, after responding to a call for a domestic violence incident at around 11:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Farmington police officers responded to the area but visited the wrong address.

"Once on scene, officers mistakenly approached 5305 Valley View Avenue instead of 5308 Valley View Avenue," the NMSP said. "Officers knocked on the front door of 5305 Valley View Avenue and announced themselves as Farmington police officers. When there was no answer at 5305, officers asked their dispatch to call the reporting party back and have them come to the front door."

The addresses are located across the street from one another. Police said the occupants of 5305 Valley View Avenue opened the door armed and an exchange of gunfire ensued....

You know, there's a lesson in here about possible consequences of both encouraging citizens to own and carry firearms, while simultaneously ensuring the police have both the bare minimum of intelligence and/or training... but it would be lost on the proponents of both of these things so forget it. :^p

Now the Army and the FBI get in the act, of going to the wrong address.

Feds barged into the wrong hotel room during a drill, then detained the guest inside
FBI agents and members of the U.S. Army Special Operations Command handcuffed and interrogated the wrong person during a training exercise at a Boston hotel on Tuesday.

Bad cops cost taxpayers.

Minneapolis to pay $8.9M over Chauvin's actions before Floyd.

The city of Minneapolis agreed Thursday to pay nearly $9 million to settle lawsuits filed by two people who said former Police Officer Derek Chauvin pressed his knee into their necks years before he used the same move to kill George Floyd.....
Yet the warning signs get ignored.

Just another bad penny.

Former cop Thomas Booker jailed for more than two decades for dark web drug syndicate.

A former South Australian police officer turned drug boss has been sentenced to 21 years in jail for trading drugs in what a court heard was a complex business run on the dark web.

Thomas James Booker, 28, was sentenced in the District Court for selling cocaine, cannabis, ecstasy and hallucinogens in online deals run from two Adelaide houses between February 2021 and November 2022.

Booker pleaded guilty to more than 50 offences including commercial drug trafficking and money laundering during a previous court appearance.

On Friday, Judge Geraldine Davison said Booker's offending would have attracted a 17-year jail term but considered that a "crushing sentence" given his prospects for rehabilitation.

It was discounted for his early guilty pleas to 15 years, with a 12-year non parole period, commencing in 2025.

Booker was also sentenced to six years in jail for Commonwealth offences, bringing his total sentence to 21 years.

The court ordered he serve a non-parole period of three years and two months for those offences before starting to serve the sentence for state offences from January 2025.

Booker worked as a police officer from 2014 to 2018 but resigned from SAPOL after a coronial inquest into the death of his wife.

She went missing in December 2018 after their honeymoon and was found dead in early 2019.

Booker provided evidence to the inquest of his drug use prompting a police internal investigation which ended upon his resignation.....
He'll have plenty of time on his hands to contemplate the error of his ways.

Jaw dropping lazy.

Bartender at my local pub had her dog taken by dognappers who messaged her saying we have your dog. Next message, the dog vanished. They gave a fake address. LA Sheriff refuses to take a report "because the dognappers seem like nice people."

Two sweet young girls are crying their eyes out because their beloved dog is gone.

Fortunately an Assistant DA is a regular at the pub and is going to make a pile of noise to get an official report. The level of lazy and the measures you have to take to get simple action out of cops.

Other regulars and friends of theirs are going to use their means, which I will not talk about, to get information.

No damn wonder there is a crime problem.
