People in the town of Armstrong, Iowa can breath a lot easier now.

Cops in Tiny Iowa Town Charged With Stalking Women and Tasering Party Guests.

They’re accused of stalking and snooping, embezzling and evidence tampering, sextortion and falsifying documents, stealing from a fire department and repeatedly using a Taser on party guests. They’re accused of perjury, data breaches, and obstructing prosecution. They’re accused of illegal vacationing, misappropriating dental funds, and tax evasion.

They’re a gaggle of former officials from Armstrong, Iowa, where they’ve racked up more than 100 combined criminal charges.

Armstrong, located on the state’s northern border, has a population of approximately 875. But a clique of local officials—including the town’s former mayor, his son-in-law (the town’s former police chief), and a local ex-cop—are accused of single-handedly sending the tiny enclave’s crime rate sky-high. Together, they’ve been charged with more than 100 counts, ranging from assault to embezzlement. That’s not even counting another dozen charges facing an alleged accomplice cop in a nearby town.

Two city clerks have pleaded guilty in the case, with the remainder pleading not guilty.

Most of the allegations are new this month, when former Armstrong police officer Benjamin Scheevel was hit with 84 charges. Those charges include multiple counts of perjury, obstructing an investigation, stalking (including stalking with a dangerous weapon), unauthorized access and dissemination of police data, assault with a dangerous weapon, tax evasion, and theft.

Those allegations span two police departments: Armstrong, where Scheevel was most recently employed, and the nearby town of Estherville, where Scheevel previously worked as a cop.....

Surely an intelligent pilot would've realised the potential hazards below.

California sheriff's helicopter lifts bounce house into air, injuring 3 children.

Absolutely unbelievable.

Did the organizers of the event next to an active heliport notify the FAA to issue a NOTAM?

Did the organizers of the event next to an active heliport notify the people setting up canopies and bounce houses to properly secure them from rotorwash?

Were the organizers expecting an R22 and a Sky Crane showed up?

Yes bad on the pilot if he knew what was there, but he were landing on the roof of a multi-story building so I doubt they even were aware of the rotorwash hitting the ground. Proper heliport design should contain and dissipate the rotorwash before it escapes the rooftop.

In any accident a long chain of events has to align, lots of blame to go around.

Looks like they've come up with a new way to use a taser, cook them instead of shooting them, but it needs a lot of refinement. :-O

Officer fired CS spray at Sheku Bayoh despite lack of direct threat, inquiry told
PC Craig Walker says no knife visible when colleague used spray without warning against man who died in custody in Kirkcaldy

An officer involved in Sheku Bayoh’s arrest has admitted that police fired CS spray and pepper spray at him without warning even though he made no direct threat and did not show any weapons.

Bayoh, a father of two, died in hospital in handcuffs in May 2015 in Kirkcaldy, Fife. He had multiple injuries after being hit with police batons, and being shackled and held on the ground by numerous officers.

Quite frankly those who lock animals and children in vehicles on hot days should suffer the same consequences.

Florida police officer won’t be charged after K-9 dies in overheated patrol car.

At least he was removed from the dog squad.

Just another police execution?

Police shot man seconds after order to raise hands.

...Jalen Randle was shot April 27 as he exited a vehicle, police said. Police said he was being pursued because he was wanted on three felony warrants.

Police released video of the shooting Tuesday after Randle's family demanded it, but Assistant Chief Thomas Hardin said in the introduction to the footage that the department is still in the early stages of its investigation. A spokesman for the Houston police department declined to comment further because of the ongoing investigation.

The video shows the officer firing once almost immediately after yelling “Hey, let me see your hands!” as he got out of a police car. After Randle fell to the ground, the officer uttered an expletive.

Attorney Ben Crump said in a statement that the video shows clearly that Randle had no time to comply with the officer's orders before he was shot....

Meanwhile in Brazil cops come up with a new use for squad cars. :-O

Brazilian Police Kill Mentally Ill Black Man in Squad Car Used as a Gas Chamber.

Outrage is building across Brazil as a result of the latest bout of apparent police brutality after a mentally ill Black man died inside the trunk of a police car. Protests have grown violent after people blocked roads and started fires.

Video of the incident shows Genivaldo de Jesus Santos pushed to the ground and handcuffed and then lifted and stuffed inside the hatchback of a clearly marked Brazil Federal Highway Police car where he died after a tear gas canister was thrown inside. “The images are just shocking,” Samira Bueno, executive director of the nongovernmental Brazilian Forum on Public Safety told the Washington Post. “He’s a mentally disturbed person, and it’s the story of you using the vehicle as a gas chamber to immobilize a person.”

The man, 38, can be seen struggling with his legs kicking and then growing limp as thick white clouds pour out of the car. The man’s wife, Maria Fabiana dos Santos told local media that her husband was murdered. “I don’t even call it fatality,” she said. “That was really a crime. They acted with cruelty to kill him.”

Santos’ wife said her husband suffered from diagnosed schizophrenia and became agitated after he was stopped by police. When they found medicine in his pocket—presumably for his mental illness—they tried to arrest him....

Just a bunch of coppers not wanting to do their job.

Police transcript shows man pleaded for officers’ help before drowning in Arizona.

Obviously they didn't want to get their fur wet and would rather watch a person drown.

You don't want Florida coppers doing a wellness check on you.

Three Florida cops charged with manslaughter for Taser death.

They will make you very unwell.

I've been tossing up where to put this, but I decided that here was best for this 1. Now you would think that someone under interrogation would've been frisked 1st.

Well it's about time and again the usual question gets asked, "why did it take so long?".

Michigan cop charged with murder in Lyoya's death is fired.

I wonder if he now wishes that he had pulled the trigger as the barrel passed over the victims right shoulder instead.
