Another bad cop gets done.

Florida deputy who allegedly framed innocent man fired, arrested.

A Florida deputy was fired and arrested after allegedly attempting to frame an innocent man on narcotics charges.

Niko Irizarry, 25, who was formerly employed by the Lee County Sheriff's Office, was arrested and charged with felony official misconduct on Friday, according to NBC News.

He was fired from the police department that same day, Sheriff Carmine Marceno told the news outlet.

Irizarry's departure came after he had been placed on leave for his involvement in the arrest of a man on narcotics charges on Dec. 16. An investigation found that he allegedly worked along with two others, Charles Custodio and Scott Snider, to arrest the man because Custodio "had a personal hatred" for him, Marceno said, according to NBC.

In order to carry out the arrest, Custodio allegedly secured a large number of drugs and then had Snider meet up with the man to plant the drugs in his car, according to the news outlet.

Custodio then allegedly contacted Irizarry so that the then-deputy could make the arrest, NBC reported.

The sheriff's office's internal affairs division in early January received a complaint suggesting the December arrest had been unlawful, according to NBC.

"The task force conducted a thorough investigation revealing an elaborate conspiracy to plant illegal drugs in the victim's vehicle and arrange for a traffic stop on that vehicle after the drugs were planted," Marceno said, according to the news outlet. "The task force utilized state-of-the-art technology ... to reveal the true names of those involved to identify and access bogus email accounts and text messages."

Both Custodio and Snider were arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance, conspiracy and trafficking in fentanyl, the sheriff said, according to NBC.

Irizarry, who was hired by the Lee County Sheriff's Office in 2018, did not have any previous disciplinary actions with the office, NBC reported.

Grand Jury Indicts at Least 9 Austin Cops Accused of Excessive Force in George Floyd Protests.

At least nine indictments have been issued to Austin Police Department officers accused of excessive force during racial justice protests in the summer of 2020, sources familiar with the grand jury’s decision said Thursday.

The state grand jury was considering charges against as many as 21 officers in the department this week, according to the Austin American-Statesman. Their ongoing probe is expected to result in future indictments.....

Justice.

3 Former Minneapolis Police Officers Convicted of Violating George Floyd's Civil Rights.

Three former Minneapolis police officers were convicted of violating George Floyd's civil rights by a federal jury Thursday.

The three ex-officers — J. Alexander Kueng, Thomas Lane and Tou Thao — faced federal charges of violating Floyd's constitutional rights by showing deliberate indifference to his medical needs and failing to provide aid as Derek Chauvin, the senior officer on the scene, fatally pressed his knee into Floyd's neck for more than nine minutes while others watched. They all testified on their own behalf to say they were trusting Chauvin's lead.

Kueng and Thao each faced an additional charge of failing to intervene as Chauvin harmed Floyd, on which they were also found guilty....

...Federal prosecutors at the time indicated they would recommend a sentence up to 25 years, to be served concurrently with Chauvin's prison time for the state murder conviction — but lasting up to 30 months longer.

Sentencing on the civil rights convictions for Kueng, Lane and Thao will take place at a later date.

Denver faces a paying out for the action of cops.

Denver must pay $14 million to protesters injured by police in 2020 demonstrations.

It's just a shame that none have been charged for those actions.

Oh dear. :-(

Body camera footage shows fatal police shooting of Patrick Lyoya.

Now 1 has to ask, why the back of the head when there was so much easier access to other parts of the body for a less lethal shot to be administered?

One has to ask why people refuse to understand if lethal force is to be used, it must be used lethally. Yes, police are trained to kill. Most of them can barely hit the broadside of a barn at 5 yards.

Former Texas deputy accused of stealing thousands from Vietnamese businesses.

[edit] And then there's just another trigger happy 1 too.

Connecticut state trooper arrested in 2020 shooting.

Can anyone else smell a cover up in action?

Los Angeles Sheriff says it will investigate a reporter who wrote about the department's use of force on an inmate.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff announced an investigation into a Los Angeles Times reporter after she wrote a story on the department's alleged cover-up of a video documenting the use of force against a handcuffed inmate.

In late March, LA Times reporter Alene Tchekmedyian wrote about the video in which a deputy was seen kneeling on an inmate's head for three minutes after he punched the deputy in the face, also citing internal records.

The incident occurred in March 2021, and Sheriff Alex Villanueva, who is seeking reelection for a second term, maintained that he was unaware of it until October.

The department did not pursue charges against the inmate "given its nature and its similarities to widely publicized George Floyd use of force," commander Allen Castellano said in a memo obtained by the outlet.

The investigation by Villanueva is looking at the manner in which the video was obtained by Tchekmedyian; the county sheriff claims the video was "stolen property."...
