Oh dear, how low can it go? :-(

US police officers who roughed up and laughed at elderly dementia patient resign.

Three Colorado cops involved in the brutal arrest of a 73-year-old woman with dementia — and later seen laughing and joking about the incident — have resigned, US police said on Friday.

Loveland Officers Austin Hopp and Daria Jalali and Community Services Officer Tyler Blackett stepped down over the June 2020 arrest of Karen Garner, Police Chief Robert Ticer said during a news conference.

“Our goal at the Loveland Police Department has always been to make our community proud. We failed and we are very sorry for that,” Ticer said.

Body camera footage allegedly showed Hopp forcing the elderly woman to the ground and Jalali slamming her against a police car, after she walked out of a Walmart without paying for about $US14 worth of items. Blackett helped transport Ms Garner to the station.

Video released by Ms Garner’s lawyer showed the cops laughing and joking about roughing up the woman — who reportedly suffered severe bruising, a broken elbow and a dislocated arm.

Both soldiers were interviewed by the Historical Enquiries Team (HET) in 2010 and it was this evidence that formed the prosecution's case.
11 years to decide to prosecute & 49 years after the incident.
Normal people know the law is the law. Time to remove the dildos applying it.
Trial collapses

Scared so they beat crap out of him & kicked him in the head.

Newly released documents from an internal probe into the fatal shooting of Breonna Taylor shows two investigators determined that none of the officers involved in serving a 2020 narcotics warrant at the 26-year-old's apartment should have fired their gun

Two more cases of over reaction by police.
Prosecutor says Black driver who was handcuffed, arrested should not have been stopped
A Black employee with the Department of Defense who was pulled over, handcuffed and arrested on charges of reckless driving, resisting arrest and eluding police should never have been stopped in the first place, a Virginia commonwealth's attorney says.

The Washington Post reported Monday that Fairfax Commonwealth’s Attorney Steve Descano dismissed all counts previously faced by Juanisha Brooks after she was pulled over by a Virginia State Police officer in early March.

During the incident, dashcam footage showed Trooper Robert Hindenlang refusing to tell Brooks why he initially pulled her over, apparently for a broken taillight, before eventually dragging her out of the vehicle and demanding she take a field sobriety test after she admitted to having one alcoholic beverage.

Two women rented a U Haul for a move Then the LAPD swarmed
Shibani Balsaver parked the rented U-Haul in front of her new Hollywood apartment. It was moving day in February of 2020, and Balsaver was preparing to unload all of her belongings into her first solo apartment. She and a friend, Sheilanee Sen, would be done in a couple of hours, if everything went smoothly. Moments later, a swarm of police officers ordered the two women to exit the truck and lay on their stomachs in the middle of the street while officers searched the rental truck, according to court records.

Moved to Stokey in 1970.
The times my mates & I were stopped either on foot, Motorbike or car were too many, but over 15 years were more than enough.
Move on another 15 years after moving here.
In Stokey doing a delivery, just closing the rear doors when a voice spoke.
"Hello lad, where have you been hiding?"
Turning around, saw 2 tibbies in a patrol car, "what are you up to then?"
A large truck with highly visible markings of a very well known company.
Sheesh. The last time I saw him was on a stop some 16 years earlier.
Stokey was known as the most bent cop shop that side of London.
Mahmood would book out police cars from Stoke Newington Police station,
No change then in 50 years

How US police training compares with the rest of the world
How many people are killed by police?

How long does police training take?

What type of training do police get?
US police academies spend far more time on firearms training than on de-escalating a situation - 71 hours against 21, on average, according to a 2013 US Bureau of Justice Statistics report.

Many other countries require officers to have a university degree - or equivalent - before joining the police, but in the US most forces just require the equivalent of a high-school diploma.

Very interesting!

Also of interest of course is: Number of people shot to death by the police in the United States from 2017 to 2021, by race

But sometimes there's proper policing going on somewhere.

FBI, Europol, AFP react to global take down of mafia, bikie members in ‘sting of the century’.

Operation Ironside: Texts sent on AN0M app about drug drops, alleged crimes.

Resulting in 1 of Australia's most wanted criminals being on the run from more than just the law now.

Operation Ironside leaves Australian man Hakan Ayik a marked man.

[edit] And so far no reports on anyone being shot or even being killed during the whole event.
