Something that resembles a DDOS attack is going on right now. . . Make that 3 of us ... Stephen :( |

My last work request completed OK. And the forums seem to have recovered at the moment. I did not get any new tasks on that work request however. Meow. "Freedom is just Chaos, with better lighting." Alan Dean Foster |

One Arecibo file (19jl18aa) added. But to what good is that, if you can't connect? . . I just managed a connect and uploaded 135 results, but ... "no tasks available" ... Stephen :( |

Same here :-) . . And now the downloads have kicked in and cache is refilling. Stephen :) |

Maybe the slowness was the new Arecibo files being transferred from P.R. and hogging all the bandwidth. But I thought a file needs prep work before it can put up for splitting and that takes some time. Dunno. Something that resembles a DDOS attack is going on right now. There have been hiccups either side of 18:00 hrs (Haveland stats time) for several days now- you can see the glitches in the graphs. And file 16jl18aa is still sitting there with 3 AP channels "in progress" but still no splitters actually running. 74 GBT channels left to do. Grant Darwin NT |

And the replica is still disabled. I'm thinking there are some less obvious than usual system issues. Presently 110k per hour being returned. 440k left in the ready-to-send buffer. So a bit under 4 hours till the well is dry, then it's down to what's in our caches. Grant Darwin NT |

Murphy's Law at work. Staff goes on vacation and then equipment breaks. Same thing happening over at GPUGrid.net. Seti@Home classic workunits:20,676 CPU time:74,226 hours A proud member of the OFA (Old Farts Association) |

Tons of files being added now. Panic Mode is over. That's good. Would've been even colder tonight without the computers crunching. Grant Darwin NT |

Do you have connectivity issues? None of my machines ever ran out and the splitters are splitting to rebuild the RTS buffer. kittyman's PM to staff woke them up from their slumber it seems and new files are loaded. The well only made it to half full before new files were loaded & the splitters finally got going again. Grant Darwin NT |

The well is dry and my caches will soon be also. Since Seti uses Credit New, and you're doing Einstein as well, BOINC has probably decided you need to do more Einstein before doing some more Seti to meet your work share settings. Grant Darwin NT |

Tons of files being added now. Panic Mode is over. . . These are Blc02 tasks, I don't recall seeing them for a while, maybe they are from different recorder on same day and targets. . . It was almost as if they were deliberately running out the Blc15 tasks to make sure they didn't hang around any longer before mounting the "new" (?) tapes. Stephen ? ? |

I am curious to know do results that produce the following message in task output SETI@Home Informational message -9 result_overflow NOTE: The number of results detected equals the storage space allocated.get stored in the master database or are they just deleted straightaway/no result into the master database? TIA |

I am curious to know do results that produce the following message in task outputSETI@Home Informational message -9 result_overflow NOTE: The number of results detected equals the storage space allocated.get stored in the master database or are they just deleted straightaway/no result into the master database? TIA . . There has been a lot of debate over just that question. Jeff Buck firmly believes they are and TBar firmly believes they are not. Personlly I doubt they would store results where a sample has been less than 1% processed, or maybe even less than 100%, because of noise, but maybe if they are late overflows they might. They would certainly not dump the task in my opnion, just the results. . . I have never seen a response from the SETI gurus making it clear one way or the other. Stephen ? ? |
