... But the industry is standardising on 1920x1080 widescreen HD

My personal peeve is that many web sites are being setup to be Mobile friendly, but are no longer customisable in any way.

The better sites used to allow you to fit more or less of their content on each page, depending on how high your monitor resolution was.
Now many of them are set up for a mobile device, with no adjustment possible. So on my nice large monitor with reasonably sized browser windows, much of the browser is just white space with a bit of text & images centred in the middle of all that wasted realestate.

Weird...my page still looks like the "old version" posted by Richard.

The image you posted is of the new (not so improved) page (Richard posted "old and new side by side" but the images are in "new and old" order).

Haha, I obviously misunderstood the whole issue. Tnx, Grant, for pointing that out :-)

Hope some new data files aren't too far off. Even with the longer runtimes for the current WUs, there's not enough there to get us through the weekend.

Actually I'd prefer them to near run these out before adding anymore as the files that were started but postponed have been there for at least 2 other attempts at processing though they still get interrupted.

Maybe a look into making sure that we don't get 1-3 different sets of files being, paused I guess that you would say, when new files have been added before server maintenance happens (why does the splitter setup do these jumps from different file sets during these actions?) as shouldn't the data sets be handled in FIFO order?

Cheers.

I'm starting to see a large number of BLC16 Overflows. Back when the BLC15s stopped they were also resulting in quite a few Overflows. The remaining tasks probably won't last very much longer, the 'Results received in last hour' is increasing indicating I'm not the only one seeing Overflows. And....today is Friday, actually the 13th, but Friday nonetheless.

Yes, I am seeing a large increase in overflows also. We will be on fumes by Monday morning if no more tasks are loaded.

Sadly, the overflow rate has stayed at a remarkably constant 5.9% since 4 Nov 2014.

Sadly I'm testing a new App that turns every OverFlow into an Invalid. Perhaps that's why the server gave me Very Few on the 11th and the 12th, but now I suddenly have pages of them on the 13th.
It must be the 13th....I suppose. The last time was a few days ago when I suddenly found the Host with a couple Hundred Overflows.

. . Not feeling superstitious I hope...

. . Though in appropriate fashion after the massive outrage RACs are seeing a big flat dead cat bounce. Maybe that is more a Halloween thing anyway ... :(

. . Hi Richard,

. . I may be misinterpretting the info but ...

This page generated: 4 Nov 2014, 23:30:05 UTC

Values as of 23585730m ago

. . doesn't that mean there is no relevant info on that page?

. . But I think the general observation is that overflow's are fairly uncommon for GBT output, while now they are about 1/3 of current results. They are late overflows not what I call noise bombs (which last only a few seconds) but at a high rate for GBT work.

But Richard, that page hasn't been updated since 4 Nov 2014 so can't really comment on what the current overflow rate is.

Back to the Old App for now.

I thought that was the reason for the beta project to be able to test out new applications?

If we are running on fumes on Monday morning (Tuesday my time) it will allow timed out tasks to be returned quicker in turn making the database smaller. I don't have any timed out tasks. I was just looking for a positive in the situation

. . While I like the positive spin I think the 26 hour outrage would have cleared out most if not all of the cobwebs very effectively ... since almost everyone would have emptied their caches in that time ...

Actually the Beta project is to test new Applications for the SETI server. If you don't intend to place the App on the SETI server then there isn't any need for Beta.
The App works just fine in all tests for NON-Aborted tasks. Just as all previous times, soon, the rash of Aborted tasks will pass and there will be few. As it was back on the 11th & 12th, and the times before then.

All the best with your application. I hope it can process work faster but also give great results.
