A couple months ago my project page gave me the status message "won't get new tasks". I assumed it was a comm issue and just powered down the computer until the problem was fixed. Since I still get the same message I was thinking maybe Windows 7 was not compatible with BOINC now. Still have BOINC Version 7.8.3. I checked for updates and all ok according to the check updates routine. Any comments please. |

No problems running BOINC on a Windows 7 PC unless you allow MS to update hardware drivers. All to often the MS hardware drivers are seriously handicapped. Some of the updates have altered settings such as firewall and av software which have caused no end of mysterious issues. If the message is specifically "Won't get new tasks" you have set BOINC to not get new tasks from this project. In BOINC Manager navigate to the Projects tab, select Seti@Home and click "Allow new tasks". The button will change to "No new tasks", the button shows the option you have, not the state it is in. |
