Did you know...

... that today is Save a Spider Day? Spiders are quite helpful, but despite that fact these little eight-legged creatures inspire fear in many. Save a Spider Day is the perfect time for parents and teachers to introduce children to these little wonders. You can turn them on to E.B. White's classic, Charlotte's Web, or brush up on your spider facts online!

I once saw two flies on a wall in the throes of passion! Either that or they were playing piggyback.
Unfortunately had no camera to preserve the moment.

Miracle of Science: Future Engineered Mosquitoes May Only Give Us Bugs That Don’t Suck

But Florida may soon enjoy a change that would make the outdoors less itchy — the Sunshine state might see far fewer bugs with a taste for your body’s red state.

Ants as pollinators.
Mr Delnevo said the way the plants had evolved was unique.
"The interesting thing is that it's not the ants that are adapted to the climate of the south-west, it is the plant that has evolved to use ants as effective pollinators," he said.
"Here in Australia they evolved in isolation for millions of years, with native pollinators, and they create floral shapes that actually facilitate the pollination of those specific agents.

Native to Australia, Uraba lugens is a strange caterpillar that stacks its molted heads atop each other. With every molt, the stack becomes an increasingly tall, tapering tower since every head is larger than the last.

Massive spider web seen in Missouri photo has some asking: Could it ‘catch’ humans?
The intricately designed web appears to be several feet wide and span between trees.

Can’t crush this: Beetle armor gives clues to tougher planes
It’s a beetle that can withstand bird pecks, animal stomps and even being rolled over by a Toyota Camry. Now scientists are studying what the bug’s crush-resistant shell could teach them about designing stronger planes and buildings.

“This beetle is super tough,” said Purdue University civil engineer Pablo Zavattieri, who was among a group of researchers that ran over the insect with a car as part of a new study.
