There are 7 of these blocks of work units I noticed on the SSP that have - blc02 - twice on them and - DIAG - in the middle of the file name.

blc02_2bit_blc02_guppi_58157_16456_DIAG_PSR_J1024-0719_0006

another one just has the - blc02 - tag just once

blc02_2bit_guppi_58185_56386_DIAG_PSR_J2022+5154_000

Those of you who understand how these names work maybe cam enlighten us if there is anything special about them. I assume diag means diagnostic but that is as far as I can go.

Thanx
Bob

Without going into detail, you can read up on what the name means here....

Zalster, your link does little to explain why the double blc at the start. Would there be a reason for that? I am assuming the DIAG means diagnostic but maybe not.

Just saying
Bob

I don't know why there are 2 BLC in the name. We could ask Eric why and see if he knows.

I think you are right about DIAG being diagnostic. The other half might be from this part

The raw voltages are stored in GUPPI-raw format (also called PSRFITS-raw or “baseband data”).

Lets see if we get a response from Eric on the name.

It's probably a 'tired eyes' naming convention :P

That is what I suspect also. The tapes have to be pre-processed before they can be split and whoever was tasked with that job appended an additional BLC02 onto the tape names.
