Well folks, i tried many linux distro's in my life. I' ve come to the conclusion, temporary is better than using a hdd to store my favorit BOINC client. I just run this live-cd from SLAX 64-bit in RAM. ^^ https://www.slax.org/blog/24578-Slax-9.3-is-here.html what do u meen ? Not bad i think. apt install boinc-client boinc-manager is all what u need. Try this. Greetings |

if u like, u could install it, perhaps if nesessary. In my VM it's not quiet stable, if its installed on a vhd-file. That point me to THIS: In Oracle VB , is it possible to boot from a physical USB-Thumbdrive ? Any suggestions ? from anybody ? |

And how VM influences on computation apps performance these days? Before there was no great sense to run compute-intensive under VM. SETI apps news We're not gonna fight them. We're gonna transcend them. |

ok, the problem is, the distro starts automaticly into RAM. U have to interrrupt the boot bz pressing "ESC" or cursors keys up and down. The preresistand files have been saved before and could be loaded errorfree. Greets |

if u like, u could install it, perhaps if nesessary. . . I am running Ubuntu 14.04 installed on a 16GB USB drive on one machine and a 32GB USB drive on another. Both work quite well, but the rig using the 32GB drive will not load properly with releases later than 96, the other is running AOK on release 116. . . It was simple enough that even I could get it working, I simply had to select the USB drive as the installation drive and it worked just fine. But I am not running as a virtual machine. . . The reason I went that way was so I could revert to the original Win10 setup exactly as it was by simply shutting down, removing the USB drive and rebooting. NO problems with power outages or shutting down the rig (not that I do that often). But when I upgrade I might move it permanently onto a SSD. I was originally dubious about having success with Linux but it has been running for over a year now ... Stephen . . |
