World's Largest Bee Is Spotted For First Time In Decades

https://www.npr.org/2019/02/21/696626918/worlds-largest-bee-is-spotted-for-first-time-in-decades
Wallace's giant bee — Megachile pluto — towers over European honey bees. The female's size has been recorded as at least an inch and a half long, with a tongue that's nearly an inch long. Add to that a pair of gigantic mandibles, and it's a bee like no other.

Marilyn, one of last season's blond babies, has shown up on our back porch quite regularly lately. She is always hungry. Makes me wonder if she is eating for four... or five. Here's hoping she's going to be a mommy!!!

You're most welcome Byron, I had a few budgies growing up as a kid and my parents had some kind of wallpaper that had a foam pattern printed on it that my budgies discovered they could "land" on. Have you ever seen a budgie on a wall?

Now budgies are curious little birds, what's that? And they head towards it. Now picture a budgie that has "landed" on said wallpaper. Where can i go? says the budgie. Apparently up, down, left and right is the answer.

Have you ever seen a budgie "walk" across a wall? I have and it's as WTF and hilarious as you might think :)

I'm having almost as much fun imagining the flocked wallpaper you grew up with.

Well, biologically that is how it works...

Were you lucky enough to know your grandmothers before they passed?

I knew both of my grandparents on both sides. Along with my great grandmother on my mother’s side. I didn’t really know my great grandfather at all.

The staircase and upstairs still has it. I'll get a pic or two when I pop round tomorrow :)
