It is the first owl I've ever seen from our backyard. Eric has heard barn owls before, but we've never caught a glimpse of one. The screech owl we saw didn't make any noise. Best every was sitting in my car eating lunch watching a Little Owl sitting on the bonnet only a couple of feet away eating its and totally oblivious to me. No pictures, I didn't dare reach for my camera which was on the back seat. Little Owls, like most owls, are generally nocturnal, but sometimes if disturbed during the day will pop out from their roost for a quick snack.
