That's a beer you owe me ;-) (See you in Rocky's) So glad it worked, I wouldn't have known about it unless I'd been caught by HP's skullduggery with discs a few year ago. Bob Smith Member of Seti PIPPS (Pluto is a Planet Protest Society) Somewhere in the (un)known Universe? |

[System Update:] Regarding the printer Driver issue where Windows pops up, "Windows Update CANNOT be reached, try again later"; Microsoft has opened a case on this. They've actually escalated the case and a Level 2 Tech is supposed to call me on the 20th. I hope they can resolve Windows NOT letting me get to the FULL Printer Drivers' List. Right now, all my dad's Data is transferred. QuickBooks 2016 is re-linked to his Company Data files. All mom's pictures are recovered. All my tools are recovered. The system is actually running pretty smoothly. ...And, SETI@Home is still Crunching. :-) Thanks, everyone, for all the input and assistance. :-) TL TimeLord04 Have TARDIS, will travel... Glad you got it resolved. Rob beat me to it earlier. Every so often still come across that problem. HP is not the only one :-( To get around it, I use this. Came in handy for dealing with older 2.5 & 3.5 IDE hard drives. |

[Farragut, Final Update:] FINALLY got the printer working. :-) I stumbled across an old HP Generic/Universal PCL6 Print Driver that was in my Tools Folder on Old Farragut. (Copied over to New Farragut during data migration.) I think this Generic/Universal Print Driver actually goes back to the original Dell Farragut from MANY years past, now... Anyway, I launched the ".exe" File and it Unzipped 81 Files into a Folder in "C:\" then began an Install Wizard that linked itself to "Add Printer" in Windows. I was then able to enter the Printer's IP Address, and the Wizard took over at "Have Disk" for the Driver to be installed. Funny thing, during the Unzip Process, the Driver identifies itself as "WinXP_64, Vista" specific. Still, after installing on Win 10 Pro x64, this Generic/Universal Driver works! The HP 4000TN is once again Default Printer!!! :-) :-D Of course, after getting this set up, MS calls back to check in on the Open Ticket... Said Ticket is now Closed. :-) TL TimeLord04 Have TARDIS, will travel... Come along K-9! Join Calm Chaos |
