So far only threats but...
There was EU/Japan/US trade discussions in Brussels yesterday, but no restoration of big Trump issues.
http://trade.ec.europa.eu/doclib/docs/2018/march/tradoc_156632.pdf
According to President Donald Trump, the controversial US 25 and 10 percent steel duty on steel and aluminum will come into force in two weeks.
The President's decision on customs has raised concerns in several directions around the world, and Trump has opened up to several countries to be excluded. So far, Canada, Mexico and Australia have been added to the list of countries likely to evade customs duties.
The EU hoped to get clear notification of exemption when Trade Commissioner Cecilia Malmström met with his US counterparts in Brussels, but it did not happen and the conversation will continue next week.
The EU Commission has prepared a long list of US products that can suffer from 25 percent US customs duties before the Trump tariffs signed.

EU companies are manufacturing 2,5 million cars in the US, and 60% of them are exported.
Trump says import of aluminum threatening US security.
Well, lots of it comes from close NATO ally Iceland produced by US firms there.
http://www.alcoa.com/iceland/ic/default.asp
Alcoa Fjardaál aluminum plant in Reyðarfjörður began operations in 2007. Fjardaal is one of the most modern and technologically advanced plants in the world and represents an example of environmental protection. The plant is the largest in Iceland and exports annually, equivalent to 10% of GDP.

Why are you unwilling to write a complete sentence? That makes it impossible to follow your train of thought.

Well it certainly goes to show that Trump doesn't remember what happened back in 2002.

On March 5, 2002, U.S. President George W. Bush placed tariffs on imported steel. The tariffs took effect March 20 and were lifted by Bush on December 4, 2003. Research shows that the tariffs adversely affected US GDP and employment.
Source.

Very little has changed since then, but I guess that he'll have to find out the hard way, except it'll still be the GDP and workers that'll pay the price again for his stupidity.

Trump is playing to the American voters concerns. As I believe the Leadership of Iceland is also concerned with their people.
What would any future International Trade Agreements and Tariffs. Which addressed the concern of American Workers. Which is the number one priority of any American President look like?
It appears the 'Old Order' is collapsing.

Trump's position.
With the help of the customs he wants to take back the lost American jobs. Trump hopes to deliver to those who voted for him in Pennsylvania and in the rest of the rust belt, and who can vote for him again. America first.
With increasing manufacturing at home, Trump hopes to reduce US deficits in trade with the rest of the world. This promise has been included in his economic program ever since the trip to the White House started.
With the threat of customs, he wants to push the sponges in Europe to pay more for the defense of his continent. Trump directly connects the customs with the payments to NATO. Those who pay more for their defense can avoid steel tariffs. A sharp knife aimed at Germany, which puts much less on its defense than NATO recommends and which at the same time earns a lot of its exports to the United States.

Trump concered of voters? Aren't Voters also taxpayers?
Representative House President, Republican Paul Ryan, urges President Trump not to implement the steel and aluminum tariffs proposed last week.
"We are extremely concerned about the consequences of a trade war and we urge the White House not to proceed with this plan. The new tax reform has boosted the economy and we really do not want to endanger these successes, "said Ryan's spokeswoman Ash Lee, reports Reuters.
Ryan has been supported by several party collegues, but it is unclear if the resistance bites on Donald Trump, writes Washington Post.

Donald Trump's controversial steel customs has caused strong reactions around the world. The US president now wants EU countries to release their "terrible" tariffs on American products in order to be eligible for exemption from customs duties. Both the Social Democrats and the Moderates react with anger, and now say they are prepared to sue the United States.
In the SVT agenda, EU and Trade Minister Ann Linde (S) and European Parliament Commissioner Christofer Fjellner (M) met to discuss the duties. Both are very upset by the president's line.
- This shows that the US administration has no plans to go down with regard to the duties. This threat to the EU is of course totally unacceptable, says Ann Linde.

"Most important is to sue Trump"
Christofer Fjellner believes that sueing Donald Trump is now necessary.
"Trump wants to leave the principle of equal treatment. Most important of all is now to sue Donald Trump at the World Trade Organization for violating the rules. It's not the first time - in 2003, we sued the United States and won. Five days later, the customs were abolished.
Ann Linde agrees, but also stresses the need to introduce custom duties as a countermeasure.
"We will go to the WTO and sue the United States. It's one thing we should do, but of course, we also need countermeasures to show Trump and the United States that not only can we sit and decide something that goes against the entire world trade system without it consequences. Now we should see what goods we can put in order to damage the US markets.

"Obviously illegal"
"It is obvious that there are no negotiations - it is extortion. The threat of a trade war is imminent, and it is therefore extremely important that you do not inviting dance to the trade war that Trump seems to want. He challenges the entire regulated trading system, it is so obviously illegal, says Christofer Fjellner.
Ann Linde says she wants to avoid a trade war at all costs.
"We must try to get back to the negotiation table and start a dialogue. But I feel very bad about sitting in the United States and hearing, "If you are nice to us then you don't need you pay, If you pay to NATO then you don't need you pay" It is contrary to our interest as an export-dependent country, "says Ann Linde.

Just 'plays' into Trumps hands. As the responses to his 'tweets' and 'slobbering mouth' do.
Lowering yourself to Trumps level is a losing position.

Perhaps.
I haven't heard from the other 27 EU countries yet.
Rather strange because Sweden usually have a low profile.
Surprised also by that both the Socialdemocrates (left) and the Moderates (right) agree so much on this.

Is the Swedish Leadership just playing to their voters, as Trump is doing?

In this case all Swedish parties agree from what I understand.
And I can hardly see what votes can be won regardless of outcome.
Hearing "Horray, Löfven did it" and he get more votes... Nah.
