Last year. Now in 2018 we are at 2 minutes to midnight, one half minute closer than in last year, that is the Clock's closest approach to midnight, matching that of 1953. Doomsday Clock Announcement, 2018 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Doomsday_Clock What is also scary is that now there are many more nuclear war heads around the world then it was in 1953. Just the risk that some accident will occur has manifolded. And by the minuterizing of them, that many are doing, to perhaps use them tactical, also increases the risk... |

Of course you do. I wouldn't say that I live in 'cowboy land', but some of my friends and neighbors still ride horses around town... <grin> https://youtu.be/iY57ErBkFFE #Texit Don't blame me, I voted for Johnson(L) in 2016. Truth is dangerous... especially when it challenges those in power. |

Hehe:) There are two Major Kong. Or perhaps more. The picture, Aircraft commander Major T. J. Kong riding the bomb down, is from the movie Dr Strangelove or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb:) https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/transcoded/3/3a/Dr._Strangelove_%281964%29_-_Trailer.webm/Dr._Strangelove_%281964%29_-_Trailer.webm.480p.webm Major T. J. Kong is played by Slim Pickens who always plays a cowboy from Texas like he did in the Mel Brooks' movie Blazing Saddles. |

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nicolaus_Copernicus https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Syphilis The second link for starters, of course, except for that you could also be warned. The first for the discussion currently underway, and also whether or not it should be any point at continuing with this. |

Hehe:) Well, what do you expect? Slim Pickens was his 'stage name' both in the Rodeo and as an actor. After all, he worked in the Rodeo for about 20 years and gained fame both as a 'performer' and a clown. Slim Pickens even got inducted in 2005 into the Pro Rodeo Hall of Fame. But no, he is not from Texas (although his Dad was), but California. And that Pro Rodeo Hall of Fame is in Colorado, not Texas. https://youtu.be/iY57ErBkFFE #Texit Don't blame me, I voted for Johnson(L) in 2016. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mutual_assured_destruction Mycket bättre. Oops Wrong picture:) Perhaps it's time to reinstate the Swedish nuclear weapons program. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Swedish_nuclear_weapons_program Since we have NATO to the West and Russia to the East I think we need some deterrence weapons and join the MAD club. |

Robert. I think we both can agree that there could be both a couple of subjects in between, and also sometimes a corresponding science for each as well. Both weather forecasting and also climate prediction are both tremendously difficult subjects, because of their complexity. If I rather make it countless dices instead, and next stack each on top of another, sometimes the 1 at the top, and other times the 6. Next make it a cube of dices again, or almost so, and either as set of 5*6 , or perhaps 6*6 such cubes could make it 30 or 36 dices in all. Next make the ordered sequence of each dice in a stack more or less random, and next tell about the general distribution of each dice, based on a given probability. Make it rather 5000, or 10000, rather than 30, or 36, and the question becomes whether or not this distribution could still be much or less the same, when only making it random in a similar way. Because of this, still countless factors at times, or at least individual elements, but because of this way of thinking about such distribution, also that the set which should be the more important one, could be a smaller one in size, or perhaps numbers. Here for that of making it the ice age for one thing, and perhaps Doomsday Clock for another, if we are not still that stupid of rather waiting for something to happen. |

DOOMsDayClock Belongs in dA TRASHCan, along wif dA ManMadeClimateChangeSHAT. Maybe "Self-Identifying As a Person Living in a S**tHOLE in a S**tHOLE Part of Town in a S**tHOLE State having Been to Other Parts of World & Walked Thru S**tHOLEs there4 Feel I Can Self-Identify a S**tHOLE and Stated TRUTH 'bout S**tHOLEs" is Kim Jong-Un that have joined Seti@Home. Kim loves bombs. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cq0f7rlvhIQ Anyway. I like bombs too:) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Px6YO-HWxVw At a distance of course. In Finland even glass windows was shattered when Tsar Bomba 50 to 58 Megaton exploded in 1961 over Novaja Zemlja more than 1,510 kilometers away. The detonation was felt even in Sweden. The seismic waves was measurable even on its third round around the globe. |

But frankly this is MAD. Today the US have 6,800 warheads, Russia 7,000. Russia perhaps have 8,000 warheads by 2026 Now if Russia have more warheads than the US and violating a treaty. Does it matter? Russia will probably say the difference is peanuts. But when North Korea has 15 the world goes bananas. But for very good reasons I would say. So why are the US and Russia allowed to have more than 14,000 together? Makes no sense. This make sense though. Scary thing that only a few couple years ago this scenario was unthinkable. |

Unfortunately, the question is when, not if, an 'accident' or a rogue state, a rogue leader, a rogue general, a terrorist group... Yes thats scary as well. Perhaps even more scary. Accidents has already happened when false alarms have been triggered. Three times only within a couple of months lately in Japan, Sweden and Guam. Perhaps more. I wonder where all the rogue states, rogue leaders, rogue generals, terrorist groups, etc get their nukes from? |

Biologicals may be easier and simpler for rogue states and terrorist groups. There is a problem with Biologicals because they can easily backfire. However Chemicals like Assad used in Syria lately is doable. Cheap and more easy to make than nukes. Come to think of Japan where one used sarin in the subway some years ago... Come to think of doing my military service when we had to train how to protect ourself if there was a gas attack. Really messy.... |

Biologicals may be easier and simpler for rogue states and terrorist groups. You don't need a chain reaction to make a dirty nuke. Just some radioactive crap, and a regular bomb. |

Israel tests ‘dirty bombs,’ finds they pose no substantial danger https://www.timesofisrael.com/israeli-tests-find-dirty-bombs-pose-no-substantial-danger/ Hmm. Are they sure? Well I for one would stay away long from ground zero. |
