Russia to lose 15,000 millionaires by end of year.

Russia's wealthiest are leaving the nation in droves after its invasion of neighboring Ukraine.

Nearly nine times as many millionaires are projected to leave Russia by the end of the year as in 2021, according to a report by Henley & Partners, a company that helps wealthy clients move internationally. Roughly 15,000 individuals worth $1 million or more are expected to depart the warring country as sanctions target the Russian elite.

Andrew Amoils, head of research at New World Wealth, noted the danger the mass exodus poses to the Russian economy.

"Wealth migration figures are a very important gauge of the health of an economy. It can also be a sign of bad things to come as HNWIs are often the first people to leave ... if one looks at any major country collapse in history, it is normally preceded by a migration of wealthy people away from that country," Amoils said....

Well, Xi put in place the restrictions on moving wealth out before he began his crackdown on HK.

Thinking......
Putin appears to be ill, maybe a terminal illness.
Also there appears to be no "nominated heir" to his seat.
There appears to be some disquiet within the higher echelons of Russia, and that might lead to an assassination or coup.

So.....
What happens if Putin dies, either "in his sleep", or other means.
Will there be a change of direction (away from suppression of truth/people)?
Will there be a hardening of attitudes?
Will there be a night of the knives?

Lots of possibilities, some far less favourable than others.
I think a coup/assassination would be the most damaging, as the knives would already be out of the draw, and those carrying them would be very ready to use them.
Dies in his sleep. Hmmmmm, hard to call, but with no visible heir I think we would see a night of the the long knives as the possibility of a calm hand over needs a recognised successor.

There was a report very recently (BBC I think) that mentioned successors & named 3 potential ones.
What I gathered from that report was that I could not see a hold in place or a withdrawal from Ukraine.

There's also the suggestion that the henchmen immediately with Putin to replace him are likely to be an even greater evil of despots.

Clearly, "appeasement" does not work...

Yep, yet the EU still tried.
Their attempts at getting Ukraine to accept the loss of territory to secure a "peaceful" resolution to the war was an affront to those that fought & died hitting the beaches in 1944 to free them.
They seem to have forgot "Der Kliene Korporal" & his Lebensraum.

This is long overdue, but will a PooTin lover (or lovers) throw a spanner in the works?

'Long overdue': Pelosi affirms support for labeling Russia a sponsor of terrorism.

Speaker Nancy Pelosi said Thursday that she's urging the State Department to label Russia as a state sponsor of terrorism, just as a Senate-led effort on the subject gains momentum.

Every senator except for Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) has agreed to quick consideration of a resolution calling on Secretary of State Antony Blinken to make the designation. All 100 senators must consent to a bill in order for it to be fast-tracked on the floor. Paul is still reviewing the measure, his office said....

...The Senate resolution, introduced by Sens. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) and Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.), is non-binding but senators believe it will have an impact on Blinken. During a visit to Kyiv earlier this month, Graham and Blumenthal gifted Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy a framed copy of the resolution.

“President Zelenskyy's reception ... was so deeply emotional,” Blumenthal said. “We tend to take somewhat lightly at times the force of a Senate resolution, but for him and the people of Ukraine, it has enormous significance.”...

FBI Raids Florida Office Allegedly Used by Russia for Election Interference.

David Walker, the special agent in charge at the FBI's Tampa office, said during a news conference Friday that the FBI executed search warrants at three locations in St. Petersburg in connection with the probe of Aleksandr Viktorovich Ionov. One of those locations was the Uhuru House, according to local stations WTSP and WFLA. Agents were seen carrying unidentified boxes out of the location for hours, WTSP reported.

Newsweek reached out to the FBI's Tampa office for confirmation that one of the raided locations was the Uhuru House, which acts as the headquarters for the Uhuru Movement, a part of the African People's Socialist Party. The party describes the Uhuru Movement on its website as a worldwide organization "uniting African people as one people for liberation, social justice, self-reliance and economic development."

The U.S. Justice Department (DOJ) unsealed an indictment against Ionov on Friday and issued a news release detailing allegations that he worked on behalf of the Russian government, as well as in conjunction with Russia's Federal Security Service (FSB), in "orchestrating a years-long foreign malign influence campaign that used various U.S. political groups to sow discord, spread pro-Russian propaganda, and interfere in elections within the United States." This effort, which also involved at least three Russian officials, lasted at least from December 2014 to March 2022, the DOJ said. It identified Ionov as a resident of the Russian capital of Moscow and the founder and president of the Anti-Globalization Movement of Russia (AGMR), an organization funded by the Russian government that he allegedly used to carry out his influence campaign.

According to the DOJ release, Ionov recruited political groups in the U.S. and "exercised direction or control over them on behalf of the FSB." It did not identify these organizations by name, instead referring to them as U.S. Political Group 1, U.S. Political Group 2 and U.S. Political Group 3....

It looks like domestic terrorism is also continuing.
