More likely, he changed the setting after posting the log. But that, too, is speculation. Work on facts only, please.

No, I did not change the settings. They have been the same for many months.

Now that is odd, and that makes it interesting.

There are two separate places to set "Store 1.1 days of work + an additional 0.5 days". You can either set them via this website, or you can set them from the Options menu in BOINC Manager ('Computing preferences...'). If you ever even look at the BOINC Manager dialog, and close it by clicking OK, the current/default values are written to a new file called 'global_prefs_override.xml', and these values take precedence over - 'override' - the settings you made on this website.

Have a look at the computing preferences page in BOINC Manager: it should tell you at the top which set of settings you are using. My guess is that you will see 'Using local settings', and the values you'll see will be the values from your Event Log - but please check to be sure. If I've guessed wrong, leave the dialog by pressing 'cancel', NOT 'OK'.

The alternative - if you're using web-based preferences - is that your computer is set to a different 'venue' to the one you're remembering. There are four to choose from - default, home, school, work.

And finally, the 'days of work' preference is global - it applies to every project you're participating in. Your event log showed that you are attached to Einstein as well - the unexpected value might have come from there.

We are working on new language for the BOINC Manager page, and the next version will use the word 'Save' instead of OK: it will also make 'cancel' the default option instead of 'OK'. It's hoped this will reduce the chance of setting an override file by mistake.

Ah....tnx, Richard ! Yep, the 0.5+0.5 preferences were taken from the settings in BOINC Manager.
I had set this to "use web prefs" earlier, as I find the web page settings simpler to use. But somehow this setting must have been lost.
I have changed it now, to "use web prefs".
So at least THAT bit is solved :-)

Things are back to normal now, scheduler is triggered as it should and cache is full (188+12 tasks).
Sorry for making much ado about nothing. Dunno how the "use web prefs" setting got lost.

You probably peeked at the 'computing preferences' page, and casually clicked on the 'OK' button when you were finished. It's (too) easily done.

Very true, if settings are that easily changed ! Will use "cancel" from now on, haha...

Hmmm. I've been getting that 'no tasks available' message for the last 20 mins.....for both CPU and Nvidia GPU.

. . I've been getting no tasks but no message either, then next time I will get some tasks but not the number required.

. . And for what it's worth, those Blc01 tapes are still in log jam mode.

All's quite well in Wiggoland, and my caches continue on staying full. ;-)

Cheers.

Wiggo runs 6.10.60 or 6.10.58. I can't remember or keep straight his version or kittyman's. Neither will have an issue getting work from the project as long as there is something in the RTS buffer.

I'm now having issues getting work myself. Just getting the "this computer has reached a limit on tasks in progress" schtick.

Really having an issue getting any work. I think I've received maybe 100 tasks on each machine over the last 2 hours. Not near enough to replenish retired work.
