It also appears that dear Carolyn has been having indigestion off and on the last few days......replica falls behind to upwards of a hour then catches up.

Server Carolyn has had indigestion since November. (Bad Turkey Day meal??) And still isn't feeling any better, where's the Pepto??

I predict we will run out of work today very shortly. I don't think Eric spends enough time keeping tabs on the servers. ( I believe he is the only staff that does ) Unless he was aware of the problem on Friday of running out by Sunday night/Monday morning and had already started the pre-splitting process on new data, then there won't be any data mounted till later today. Crossing fingers here.

Whoa.......hold your tongue there, please.
Eric spends more time than you may think on this project.
I just heard from Eric, and they are having some connection difficulties hampering obtaining the GBT data.
He should be posting some word on that shortly.

My comment was not a personal attack on Eric. Only that the project can't be maintained properly or efficiently by one single person which it currently is apparently.

Yes, on the front page now.

Slow network connection to Green Bank
Something is happening to the network connection between Green Bank and Berkeley that is slowing down the rate at which we can transfer data for splitting. We've opened a trouble ticket with campus networking services. Hopefully they will be able to find and fix the problem quickly. Until then, work may be in short supply.
Edit - I hope it's nothing to do with net neutrality

Well, they've found a new one from Arecibo. Hooray for snail mail (or at least air freight).

Been occurring for a month or more.

Edit- it just seems that long.

Just got down here to check out one of my main boxes, found out that it's run dry, so I guess things finally did run out at HQ... :-/

. . Well not quite, the system is up and there are 33 tapes loaded but nothing is being split, all the splitters are disabled so they are still working on it. <sigh>

. . and in the blink of an eye everything changes. I was still getting "no tasks available" and when I checked the server page it was as I described. I went to a second machine and re-enabled the network and suddenly I got 35 tasks and the server page now says most of the GBT splitters are up with a creation rate of about 30/s, the hopper is still empty and I suspect will be for while as the system plays catch up.

. . I must have caught it between updates or something :)
