About 5 minutes ago I had 51 valid work units (I hope I have the terminology right) and 19 Validation Pending.

Now, however, I have 49 valid work units, 19 validation pending, and 0 for Invalid and Error.

Any idea on what happened to the other two?

It's impossible to keep all work forever in the BOINC database, it is already several terabytes as it is. So all validated work has one copy of itself put into the scientific database and all its copies in the BOINC database are removed 24 hours after validating.

It would be nice if individual contributors could see a repository of their work, and be allowed to save the record of the work to their own computers. The system could generate an email reminder to the contributor, tell them "you have XX days to grab records of your work. Go to wetf.wtf.us (or whatever) find your bin and grab it. All or nothing, you sift through it.

Maybe many would just let that go but I'd like to see the records of my contributions, however meager they are.

While that may sound a great idea, the shear volume of mails could well end up swamping not only the project's mail server but also those of teh university. Also the data would still have to be kept for that period, and many people just wouldn't bother to reply, or are using dead/dummy email addresses that likewise wouldn't get responses.

Plus, this is what Add-Ons are for. SetiSpirit seems to be what you're looking for. Or Mapview (but be warned, its pages are completely in German)
