I have a Samsung HD501LJ 500GB which I installed Win 7 on to test some new hardware (my E5-2860 v2s, but that is another thread). When I start up the system, it seems to run OK, but opening SpeedFan to the SMART tab does NOT show the HDD. If I look in the little messasge window SF provides, I see the following message: ProbeSCSI: WARNING: hard disk skipped because of invalid returned LogSense data. (Crystal Disk Info works OK, sees the drive, only bad thing is ONE reallocated sector, but no pendings) What does this mean? Would that imply that the disk is damaged in some way that would cause instability? The system starts up OK, runs SAH for awhile (a half hour or maybe longer), and then seizes up. (Does not appear temperature related, as far as I can tell monitoring CPU and HDD and GPU temps). Thanks for any ideas! |

What does this mean? Would that imply that the disk is damaged in some way that would cause instability? Or Speed Fan needs an update to support that drive on that OS on that motherboard. Grant Darwin NT |

I have used SpeedFan in the past. Did you look when it was updated last? Is anybody actually maintaining it? |

I get this same error with my Toshiba DT01ACA2 (2000.4GB) drives........... It has something (I think) to do with the program not being able to properly detect these newer drives as ATA but somehow gets confused and sees them as SCSI drives...... Anyhow other than that it works just fine (The SMART tab seems to pull the drives data fine as well) The program is kept up to date and is actively supported |

The system I have SpeedFan running on doesn't have any of the drive issues you report so I'd suspect a bad/defective drive. I run Speedfan on all 3 of my crunchers without any issues |

I wouldn't say it is actively supported. SpeedFan 4.52 |

I wouldn't say it is actively supported.SpeedFan 4.52 You might need to dig just a little deeper Click "support" on the home page Then "bug tracking system" near the top This brings up the Mantis Bug Tracker.......... Select "View Issues" http://www.bugtrack.almico.com/view_all_bug_page.php A bit hidden but still active |

So no one thinks of putting this whole error into Google and see what it comes up with? Anyway, check S.M.A.R.T., see if anything's out of the ordinary |
