Trump, imho, is attempting to achieve what Angela Merkel has failed to do. She wanted an economic, fiscal & political union. The reason why she failed is because of Germany's past -Europe will not allow Germany such military force ever again - which is what will be required had she achieved her aims.
Now to Trump. No need to achieve military might as the US is the big boy bully on the block.

That's what he was elected to do! That's what EVERY Head of State is elected (or appointed, or anointed) to do!

It's been proven repeatedly in the last 100 or so years that in an equal footing situation the US will prevail. Economically, Militarily, Medically, on and on. But it's because of the SYSTEM here, not The President. He's just one person.

I would expect the damage to be on the order of a century. Much of the rest of the world still works corruption of blood, and anyone alive when he was POTUS will never forget.
