From Wednesday, August 28, through Monday, September 2, the information provided by NOAA and the National Hurricane Center to President Trump and the wider public demonstrated that tropical-storm-force winds from Hurricane Dorian could impact Alabama. The former chief operating officer of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) panned a statement from the agency Friday that disavowed a tweet from the National Weather Service that contradicted President Trump’s claim that Alabama was in the path of Hurricane Dorian.

“Perhaps the darkest day ever for @noaa leadership. Don’t know how they will ever look their workforce in the eye again. Moral cowardice,” David Titley tweeted.

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — Republican leaders in South Carolina voted Saturday to scrap their presidential primary in 2020, while party officials in Kansas and Nevada were deciding whether to follow suit with their nominating contests as the GOP erects more hurdles for the long shots challenging President Donald Trump.

Canceling primaries, caucuses and other voting is not an unusual move for the party of the White House incumbent seeking a second term, and allows Trump to try to consolidate his support as Democrats work to winnow down their large field of candidates.

A spokesman for the South Carolina Republican Party, Joe Jackson, confirmed that the party had voted against holding a presidential primary next year. Officials in Kansas and Nevada scheduled meetings later Saturday to determine the fate of their contests. A decision in Arizona is expected later in the month.

Bet they add California to that list, so ol' 'Rumpers don't gotta publish his tax returns! Oh by canceling the primary in South Carolina they just made the law requiring the disclosure to be on the primary ballot constitutional. It is only the actual election now that is under the federal rule. GOPers keep shooting their feet off! :)

The Guardian - Congress investigating Trump over US military trips to Scotland

Congress is investigating Donald Trump over a potential conflict of interest involving increased US military spending at Prestwick airport in Glasgow and visits to his Trump Turnberry resort, according to reports.

The house oversight committee has been investigating whether increasing expenditure at the airport and allegations of US military personnel being offered discount deals at Trump’s Ayrshire golf resort represent a violation of the US constitution, Politico reported.

Elijah Cummings, the chairman of the committee, wrote in June to the then acting secretary of defence Patrick Shanahan to raise “serious conflict of interest concerns” about Trump making money from military trips to Scotland. According to the news website, the letter said US military spending at Prestwick, the closest airport to the resort, appeared to have “increased substantially since the election”.

It follows reports of the airport offering “cut-price rooms for select passengers and crew”, along with free rounds of golf at Turnberry for US military staff and civilian air crews.

Actually Trump's is a photo of a picture that was presented on a briefing. You can the see flash from the camera on the center of the picture. I wonder who took the picture...

Abortion should indeed be included in the list of things that will never be legislated out of existence. For a Prohibition to work there must be a compelling impetus in EVERY person to make a thing or action personally prohibited. In any society valuing freedom of individual will and thought such a consensus of thought is rare or impossible.
