Because they have the luxury to vote for "beliefs" instead of economics. They are voting for "the good guys"... to the detriment of their own pockets. It's a scam that politicians take advantage of all the time. Like David Cameron saving same-sex marriage legislation for a rainy day.

AFAICT it's essentially the same in European big cities too.

(I've lived most my life in big cities BTW. Los Angeles, Manchester UK, Honolulu, Athens Greece and been to many, many more)

Another view on city population https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2019/05/21/business/economy/migration-big-cities.html?&action=click&module=MoreInSection&pgtype=Article&region=Footer&contentCollection=Economy And it's not to the detriment of their own pockets.

I too have lived in large cities London, Manchester, Rome, Dortmund, Dusseldorf, Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur and others, even though I don't like them. But now I have retired my village has less than 800 inhabitants.

Ok last point first. I wasn't making the city thing a competition... you're making me look like an idiot :) I'm just saying I'm a city-boy too and so are all my best friends (half of them scattered across the globe with really good salaries)... Or better I was trying to say that, "yes I completely understand that big-city folk are more progressive". Myself included.

However the article you quoted... why? It just proves my point :)

But we'll have to pick it up another day. Apologies, I have to sign out.

I'll let someone else plot state spending vs. political party votes. What I expect to see is that the redder the state the less it spends per person on basic government services, like schools, libraries, police, fire, hospitals, roads, etc. My other comment is that you have to have good support services to have strong business and high wages. It isn't what some people want to hear or believe.

Are all those increasing calls, from many different directions, for impeachment of your poster boy getting to you Dull?

You can put lipstick on him, but he's still a crook and a liar.

Well the fight is on now as to whether that old piece of crap stands up to a crooked president that is trying real hard to surround himself with other just as crooked people to obstruct the rule of law (maybe that's why Pence stays out of the lime light, hoping to stay squeaky clean).

It's a result of population density, and that cities are frequently populated with centrist Democrats.
Probably repeated in just about every other state, and if there are any democrats in rural areas they will tend to the fringes, politically as far away from the Republicans as they can get.

You could ask from this map. "How did Clinton win the popular vote?"

Perhaps generally true, but the map f WI is not showing a big city. Madison is north and west of there, roughly. Also a ways from Janesville & Milwaukee.

I lived in WI 2 years. That yellow region looks like the nice country drive I took as an alternate route to Chicago.
Capitalize on this good fortune, one word can bring you round ... changes.

It certainly looks as if that 'extremely stable genius' is losing his stability big time this week.

Maybe he should've stayed in bed longer. LOL

No Wall!
U.S. District Judge Haywood Gilliam Jr.’s: “Congress’s ‘absolute’ control over federal expenditures_even when that control may frustrate the desires of the Executive Branch regarding initiatives it views as important_is not a bug in our constitutional system. It is a feature of that system, and an essential one,” he wrote in his 56-page opinion.

"People are feeling more emboldened to act out their biases," Gray says. "It's an inflection moment - there's this atmosphere emboldening people to show who's in charge and how they are going to handle things."
Will only get worse with people like Trump in power

The war hero is dead and buried, but the incredible pettiness lives on ... so much so it might be mental disease or defect.

The White House wanted the U.S. Navy to keep a warship named for the late Sen. John McCain out of President Donald Trump’s view during his trip to Japan, three U.S. officials said Wednesday.

As first reported by The Wall Street Journal, a U.S. Indo-Pacific Command official wrote an email to Navy and Air Force officials about Trump’s arrival in Japan over Memorial Day weekend. It included instructions for the proper landing areas for helicopters and preparations for the USS Wasp, the ship on which the president was to speak.

The official then issued a third instruction: “USS John McCain needs to be out of sight,” according to the email, which was obtained by the Journal and whose existence was confirmed to The Associated Press.
How much did this cost the American Taxpayer?

v2.0 doesn't just want a trade war monger, he want to be an economic terrorist too.

1 thing that I have noticed today is that his fake orange tan isn't hiding the red urge much.

Trump calls Meghan 'nasty' on UK visit eve.

Trump referred to the American-born Duchess of Sussex as "nasty" over comments she made in 2016 threatening to move to Canada if Trump won the White House.

"I didn't know that she was nasty," he said of Meghan when read her prior criticism.
Well she did move, just not to Canada. LOL
