Acting President Pelosi:
My fellow Americans, today we face a gun violence emergency. Today I take the step of declaring a national emergency of gun violence.

Effective immediately any citizen wishing to own a gun must show proof of a minimum of $1,000,000.00 liability insurance policy for each gun they own. If that gun is automatic in any way the minimum insurance shall be $10,000,000.00 per gun.

Effective immediately all transfers of guns can only be made after a background check. The make, model, caliber and serial number of the weapon being transferred and the persons transferring must be recorded along with proof of insurance.

Within ninety days all guns must be registered with the BATF. The registration will denote the make, model, caliber and serial number of the weapon as well as information to establish the identity of the person to whom the weapon is registered. A citizen who does not wish to retain their gun may sell it to another, provided it is done with a background check or they may surrender it to law enforcement for destruction.

I am asking Congress today to make it a felony punishable by a 25 year mandatory sentence for each unregistered gun someone has and to make such sentences consecutive.

Further I am asking Congress to require that gun registrations will expire two years after they have been issued and that a citizen must renew the registration and have another background check performed to continue to own the gun.

Further I am asking Congress to require that all mental health professionals report all cases where they believe a person might possibly become a danger to the BATF to be placed on file to reject them from gun ownership. Also that all police and fire agencies that refer any persons for mental health evaluations also report all such referrals to the BATF for the same reason. And that all police agencies report all persons picked up for being intoxicated and further that all courts forward all convictions of persons who were intoxicated to the BATF as such persons have demonstrated they can't keep control of themselves and thus should be kept away from guns.

Rep. Elijah Cummings (D-Md.), the chairman of the House Oversight and Reform Committee, said Friday the panel believes two attorneys for President Trump may have given false information to government ethics officials.

Cummings said the panel has reviewed newly uncovered documents from the Office of Government Ethics (OGE) suggesting Trump's personal lawyer Sheri Dillon and former White House lawyer Stefan Passantino gave false info about hush-money payments to adult-film actress Stormy Daniels and former Playboy model Karen McDougal.

“It now appears that President Trump’s other attorneys — at the White House and in private practice — may have provided false information about these payments to federal officials,” Cummings wrote in a letter to White House Counsel Pat Cipollone.

Cummings said Dillon “repeatedly stated to federal officials at OGE that President Trump never owed any money to Mr. Cohen in 2016 and 2017” and Passantino falsely told officials that Trump and his former lawyer Michael Cohen had a “retainer agreement.”

“President Trump’s former attorney, Michael Cohen, is now going to prison in part for his role in these hush-money payments,” Cummings wrote. “During his guilty plea, Mr. Cohen said that he did this ‘in coordination with, and at the direction of’ the President ‘for the principal purpose of influencing the election.’”

“It now appears that President Trump’s other attorneys—at the White House and in private practice—may have provided false information about these payments to federal officials. This raises significant questions about why some of the President’s closest advisers made these false claims and the extent to which they too were acting at the direction of, or in coordination with, the President.”
