The time has come for some to consult a few history books so that they might learn a few things and answer this question. What is the future of a country where one faction is allowed to call for the physical confrontation and assault on their rivals? Do you mean all that "grab 'em by the p____", "I'd like to punch him in the face" and such like plus last month warning of violence if GOP lost the mid-terms. ..........look to Putin, Xi, Kim, Erdogan, Ortega, Maduro, Amin, and the Castros for the answer. And now an employee of a Dim(in oh so many ways) member of Congress is charged with publishing the addresses and personal information of GOP members, then threatened to release information regarding their spouses and CHILDREN![/quote] They are not history, they are current affairs. I was under the impression that the addresses of congress members was public knowledge, so you can send them letters, so you can ask for all sorts of things including nomination to Military College like the one in Colorado Springs. They came close with Scalese, but who will be held responsible when one of these nut jobs actually assassinates a member of Congress or SCOTUS or a Cabinet Secretary? 'Maxine the Inciter'? 'Spartacus' Booker? Gabrielle Giffords Free speech is not Free, it has a price, that price is CIVILITY in disagreement, not calling for 'heads on pikes'. Can't say I would think Trump was a civil person. There are tweets and live video's of him insulting all these people; 1.The disabled 2. Reporters 3. Iowans 4. Muslims 5. NATO members 6. African-Americans 7. Asians 8. Women 9. POWs 10, and just about anybody else who opposes him Someone WILL act again, it's inevitable in the current hysteria of 'anything to stop Trump'. Someone will act and another will defend themself and their family, and then there will be the usual hand wringing and recriminations, but will the inciters be charged?....... Isn't that why you have the 2nd, to defend yourselves against those who threaten your rights defined in the 1st, like Trump, and the GOP. |

So you approve of violent confrontation as a political tactic? Good to know. "Sour Grapes make a bitter Whine." <(0)> |

I have believed for many years there is no chance for another Civil War in the US..........now I'm not so sure. If the Radical Left does succeed in assassinating a GOP member of Government, or several, or their wives or children are attacked.....all bets are off. Nick says we(or I) "have the 2nd, to defend yourselves against those who threaten your rights defined in the 1st, like Trump, and the GOP.", ,,,,,,in which he is correct. And if pushed into a box, many will indeed exercise that Freedom, which will ratchet up the violence from the Left. When that happens....The American 'Un'Civil War will begin. I will not be surprised, but I will be greatly saddened, when violent ANTIFA protests are ended by fed up armed citizens cutting them down in the street. In their rush to violence the Radical Left has apparently forgotten or have ignored the fact of which faction has embraced and which faction has rejected personal gun ownership, possession and USE if necessary. And which faction are trained in their use. The Left Wing Nuts will incite the Right Wing Nuts to react.....and....it.....will.....not.....be ......pretty. "Sour Grapes make a bitter Whine." <(0)> |

Please, please stop believing or even entertaining the silly ideas thrown about on extremist websites. This is not post-nuclear anarchy. You have a functioning society with law enforcement and courts. If anyone assassinates anyone, they will be quickly arrested, tried in a court of law, and spend the rest of their miserable lives incarcerated (including up until their execution depending on state.) Sigh... |

Just reminding myself of the sequence of events surrounding the Charlottesville riots. "On February 6, the Charlottesville City Council also voted to remove the equestrian statue of [Robert E] Lee" (also from wikipedia). Is it OK to describe that as the democratic decision by a body duly established, several levels down, under the Constitution of the USA? The Right demonstrated, the Left counter-demonstrated, and one individual from the Right counter-counter-demonstrated, killing a young woman. Is that how it starts? |

Just another example that both extremes are a danger to The Rule of Law and The People.Agreed. But extremes armed with assault rifles and high-capacity magazines are likely to pose a more dangerous danger than most. |

Just another example that both extremes are a danger to The Rule of Law and The People.Does that include a police force who put their own "spin" on the Rule of Law? |

Or try to confiscate from possibly 1/3 of the American population their weapons.I was trying to limit it to the extremes - I'll let you keep your handguns ;-) Or are you saying that 1/3 of the population now have assault rifles? I might have to reconsider my intention to attend the BOINC Workshop in Chicago next year..... |

Fact not opinionOr president.Just another example that both extremes are a danger to The Rule of Law and The People.Does that include a police force who put their own "spin" on the Rule of Law? So your "Rule of Law" has been blown out the window, & your current POTUS is not much cop either. :-) |

Interesting opinions from those who will have no say in the November elections. But who will be deeply, possibly terminally, affected by the outcome. As will every other human being on the planet. You will be aware of the empty front-page column in the Washington Post, where the latest column by journalist Jamal Khashoggi should have appeared. Jamal Khashoggi disappeared in Turkey last week, after entering the Saudi Arabian consulate (he's Saudi by birth-nationality, although currently an exile). The Turkish police are alleging that he was murdered on Consular territory. That goes against even the mediaeval concepts of chivalry and safe-conduct of emissaries. Just like the Charlottesville case, Turkey will - at the nation state level - demonstrate against Saudi Arabia. Saudi Arabia will counter-demonstrate against Turkey. And Turkey is a member of NATO. Under treaty (Article 5, I believe it is), both my country and your country will be duty-bound to counter-counter-demonstrate against Saudi Arabia. This is beginning to sound like the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand in 1914. Will President Donald J. Trump be driving the counter-counter-demonstrator's murder weapon? If he does so, he'll come up against some very modern weaponry - fast jets and cluster bombs - that we sold to them, in exchange for oil. Or how else will he handle it? |

Just reminding myself of the sequence of events surrounding the Charlottesville riots. Just how far left were the counter demonstrators? My understanding is that they were just normal citizens who didn't want any extreme political demonstrations in their city, not a group of extreme left wing nutters. |

You know the basic rules - anyone standing even microscopically to the left of you is Che Guavara, and anyone microscopically to the right of you is Attila the Hun. |

Mr Haselgrove. I would advise you to seriously consider NOT attending the Chicago meeting.............after all, there might be some of those rioters LEFT over from the 1968 DIMOCRATIC convention still active.......... Maybe I can persuade IBM - who will be sponsoring, organising, and hosting the workshop - to send an armoured limo to transport me direct from the airport to their bunker? I assume that's how commuters get to work? |

A propos of that, what are the niceties of getting admission to the USA these days? I have a passport stamped with a US visa, valid INDEFINITELY for MULTIPLE entries into the United States (their capitals). And the same passport has entry and exit stamps for the USSR - the Russian trip came first, so the Americans could and should have known about the Russian trip (if they bothered to look at the back pages). Two of my claims to fame: I was in Moscow on the day the Russians invaded Czechoslovakia and toppled Alexander DubÄek (August 1968), and I was in the viewing gallery of the Security Council room at the United Nations in New York, on one of the days in 1973 when the UNSC was debating the run up to the Yom Kippur Arab-Israeli war of that year. I've still got that passport (long since expired), and I can scan it to show anyone that the dates for those claims are plausible. |
