If they would at least communicate more ... In this case: What's the problem? What do they need to make it better? Something like that? In general: It would be nice to see some results from all the work people are doing, at least once per year, or so ... |

If they would at least communicate more ...It's a quarter to seven in the morning in San Francisco. You expect someone to be working on things and communicating that to you at that time? |

I believe he is speaking in more general terms. Not as of this moment. "Time is simply the mechanism that keeps everything from happening all at once." |

Well If we being optimistic then the good news is ,,,,,,,,, The replica is keeping up with no issues since the Tuesday outrage. That doesn't happen often. Yes. "Being processed" on the SSP means that work has started on that tape. But when the splitters are paused (e.g. for maintenance yesterday), or when new tapes are loaded, the tape selection mechanism sometimes picks a different tape for processing. So then the old tape goes into a 'waiting to run' state, such as we sometimes see on our BOINC Managers - except you can't see it on the SSP. Those are your ghosts: they are very common, even if you haven't noticed them before. And they're nothing to worry about - eventually the tape selection process will pick them out again and give them another go. Thanks, Richard. I had truly not noticed this before, even though I would usually count the splitters shown on the bar graphs and match it with the number running. I might have missed a couple at one time or another because the number on the tape being processed was never explicit and I had to guess, based on the width of the darker green areas (remember when we had the cases where several got stuck on one tape?), but what I meant was that I could not remember seeing more tapes being processed than splitters running. Thanks for the explanation. |

Actually, Seti@Home is not much fun any more, with the outages, droughts, problems, speculations...and CreditScrew. . . Yeah! All the dramas do take some of the gloss off the whole deal ... :( Stephen :( |

Most BOINC based projects do not have enough staff or funding to give 24/7/356.25 support or coverage. Many are even worse than SETI at communicating or supplying data :-( As for Linux support for GPUs- well you have to look at the tags to see if they do, and then good luck, because some are better than others.... Hmmm..... Was hoping to see some splitter action by now. The problem must be proving to be a tougher nut to crack than hoped for. I am sure they are working on it. Meowsigh. "Time is simply the mechanism that keeps everything from happening all at once." |

The splitter problem is turning out to be at least as much fun as the Tuesday outrage. |

Anybody from Beta remember how long it took them to get the splitters working there after the server code update? Seti@Home classic workunits:20,676 CPU time:74,226 hours A proud member of the OFA (Old Farts Association) |

I think it took 2 weeks or so to fix the Beta splitters. Well, that's certainly encouraging news. "Time is simply the mechanism that keeps everything from happening all at once." |

if that's the case, they know the fix. (having done the same thing on Beta...) Let's hope it doesn't take them as long to fix production as it did Beta, though... . Hello, from Albany, CA!... |

It appears the decline has steepened even more. I added the first 1060 around mid-Oct, the second around mid-Dec. It did a moonshot to above 100k, then the Arecibo tasks stopped. The best I can determine, it Might settle out around 70k...maybe. That depends IF we ever get tasks again. |
