Eric has very properly explained that my contribution to this fundraiser is in memory of my mother, Jenifer Leech (as she was known at the time of her death).

But I'm really commemorating the scientific work she published during her life, under her previous name of Jenifer Haselgrove. I posted some notes on her work a couple of years ago, here and here.

The response has been amazing! We've already reached our goal for the fundraiser and a bit more, and we reached the limits to which the donors have agreed to match. Any further matching of donations is up to them. If you didn't get a chance to get your special disk drive or GPU icon, we'll keep that open for donations that come in until 8am Pacific Time (1600 UTC) on Monday.

Before this drops off the first page, please note that we have now finished the special fundraiser with new icons and matching funds. The total raised by users was $24,731.03 in four days, plus (probably) checks wending their way in by snail mail. By the time we've totted up the match funds, the total will be some way north of $100,000 - well over twice the target. We'll announce the final amount in the News thread.
