I have an aging homemade desktop that uses motherboard graphics and runs Windows 10; 8 GB RAM. I don't plan to keep it forever; it may want to not run forever either. But for now, can anyone recommend a low cost GPU card that can be configured to run SETI (on Windows 10). I'm looking for that last hurrah before the old boy needs to be put to pasture.

If it has a full length PCIe slot a Nvidia 1060 3Gb is a good value. However depending on it's age it might have an AGP slot, too far back for me to recall what would be best, if anything.

Either a 1050 Ti or a 1060 should be fine.

If you are looking at current models.
As mentioned the GeForce GTX 1050 or 1050 Ti are probably the best low cost performance options.
If even lower cost is desired the Radeon RX 550 or RX 560 would also work.

Older generation GPUs could possibly be found new or more likely used.

By low cost what kind of buget are you looking at?

I used to get decent GPU crunching on an Nvidia GTX 750Ti before I recently upgraded to a 1060.

They are running Win10 on C2Q Q6700.

You can get 1 year factory warrantied GTX 750Ti for 90, 1050Ti for 120, 1060 for 210 and it will need external power connection.
