At first I thought the restart on Tuesday had solved our database problems. I guess I was wrong. It only fixed some of them. We've hit yet another hidden limit in our Informix science database. The good news is that we know how to fix this one. The bad news is it will take a little while. We don't have to wait for the full fix before starting to split again, but the point at which we can split will probably be sometime tomorrow. Until then, we only have a few re-dos and a little bit of astropulse to do. @SETIEric@qoto.org (Mastodon) |

Thanks for the update. Why is it that software never warns when a limit is being reached? Just after the fact! LOL |

I'm sure these things are sent to try us all, at least you and your team is trying to iron out the issues... Will there be another down time before next tuesday? Keep up the great work Stargate |

Thanks for the information, Some of my machines had gone idle and I could not get them to load new jobs and I had been thinking that the problem might be on my end. Appreciate the work you guys are putting in to keep the servers functioning. Rich |

I don't mind doing Astropulse V7 units...just one question...why is only 1 pc getting work units? My mac has a unit to crunch, nothing for my win10 laptop... Thanks for the updates...strangeness...maybe my adding a win10 to the mix broke seti...I never liked win10 anyway... Justine |

The only work being done is what was already sent before the recent trouble.... |

Ha - thought my computer was being REALLY quiet when I walked in the computer room tonight. No wonder -- the video card is at idle using only about 5% its normal power. And the GPU fan is at zero RPM. Don't see that too often. Not that the Nvidia 1060 generally makes a lot of noise, but what little it does sure sounds different than "nothing". Maybe I'll have to use that gaming card for... gaming tonight? Best of luck with the DB issues. I'm sure it will all be sorted out soon enough. Thanks for all your hard work Eric |

We've hit yet another hidden limit in our Informix science database. The good news is that we know how to fix this one. The bad news is it will take a little while. Will this also take care of the growing AP Awaiting validation/assimilation backlog? Grant Darwin NT |

Ah I'm not the only one who noticed some snag hit the server :) It would be nice if the clients can stash more blocks in their queue for snaggy days like this. [quote Does anybody else wish that Micro$oft had never gone in the Win 10 direction? Win 7 was the best version of Windows I've seen, as far as I can tell Win10 is a downgrade![/quote] I used to care when windows was "invading" my dos shell. These days I don't really care anymore as long as it runs my software. For important server stuff shere are proper alternatives. |

Hi Moderators... Not sure if you could suggest to the Seti forum admin staff or designer that we be able to edit/delete posted messages that we posted... I am now a bit sorry that I posted something about win10...seems to now be a bit too much....For that I apologise.. Oh..just saw the edit button..thought that it was used to change the UTC time..why you would want to change that..no idea...but the proximity to the timestamp...I checked, my offending post does not have an edit button...would love to change my previous post!!! Thanks Justine |

If you want a post of your's deleted you have to notify the moderators using the tiny "red x" situated next to the reply & quote buttons at the bottom of the post.
