Bastrop (TX) City Council asking for ideas to solve feral chicken population
Chickens in Bastrop are running wild and many people who live there say they are fed up.

The City held a meeting Wednesday to find solutions to the overpopulation problem.

A city official said the problem started when Bastrop built the convention center on farmland where the chickens used to roost. That pushed the chickens out into the neighborhood, so the city turned Farm Street into a chicken sanctuary, but the birds didn’t stay there either.

“There’s chickens all over town,” said Jane Campos who has lived in Bastrop for more than 50 years. On her street, which was declared a chicken sanctuary by the City of Bastrop, it’s normal for the big birds to run free.

“This is part of Bastrop and part of the unique area that we live in,” Campos said.

Did you know:
The US has around 6,800 nuclear warheads.
The total number of US warheads is second only to Russia, which currently has around 7,000 of them.
Other countries that have nukes are not even near to that.

Trump in the US and Putin in Russia have the authorities to use them.

Sphinx head from "Ten Commandments" movie set found buried in California sand
DeMille commissioned designer Paul Iribe, known as the father of art deco, to build a lavish set 12 stories high and 800 feet wide in the Guadalupe-Nipomo Sand Dunes on the California coast.

After filming wrapped the set was too expensive to move and too valuable to leave for a rival filmmaker to use, so DeMille ordered it be buried

Now it's time to watch the Super-moon.
Clear sky and here are some pics from Stockholm today.

I spend many fun days in those dunes. Bits have been found there for years.

Re the 'super moon': BBC TV news has just told its viewers that "tonight the moon is going to move closer to the earth to create the super moon effect". I wonder if Isaac Newton knew that phenomenon?

No. In this theorem he stated that orbits were uniform. See his Proposition 45 that extended his theorem to arbitrary central forces by assuming that the particle moved in nearly circular orbit.

All I know is that the nutters have surfaced in other places.

I would suggest that you look at our moon right now yourself.
Oh. It's cloudy in London.
Anyway. There will be more Super Moons.
But here and some parts of Britain it looks very large and bright as well today.

Oh. It's cloudy in London.
It's clear and bright in Yorkshire. I'll get a proper look when I go out a little later on.

And now when I looked at the moon it now appears smaller than it was earlier today.
But the moon is very bright though.

There was a touch of cloud when I went out, but again bright and clear as I come back in - but the moon high in the sky hardly looks 'super'. It does light up the passing contrails very clearly, but doesn't quite out-glare Orion, immediately below from my viewpoint.

Hehe:)
Most of the effects of a Supermoon are optical illusions.
But here the moon has out-glared Orion and every other stars.
However I could see Venus though.

I didn't have any good foregrounds. Here is the moon behind Anaheim's Crystal Cathedral. I could not get an exposure where the moon did not overpower the Cathedral spires.

Cool. I, at first, thought that was the ISS in the foreground!

Mother Angry After School's Robocall Keeps Mispronouncing Daughter's Name As A Racial Slur
Nicomi Stewart, a mother in Rochester, New York, is “disgusted” after an automated call sent to her phone from the city’s school district mispronounced her daughter’s name as a racial slur.

Stewart’s daughter is named Nicarri. Stewart told WHAM TV the message clearly began, “This is Edison Career and Technology High School. Your daughter, N****r, has missed period one on…”

The call came after Nicarri missed a day of class at Edison Career and Technology High School.

The racially insensitive robocall came more than once so Stewart was able to record the message.

California is burning up again. The Ventura Fire has burned 150 structures, including schools and a Hospital.
I have many friends in the area, so far they are all safe but many have been forced to evacuate.
