Transport officials seek train surfer who jumped into river.

A video has emerged on social media of a man leaping off a moving train on the Fremantle rail bridge into the Swan River, prompting an investigation by transport officials.

Authorities have confirmed the dangerous train surfing stunt took place on Saturday morning.
Maybe he'll get his Darwin Award next time.

Cheers.

There's a Mythbusters program on that subject. Episode 199, Down and Dirty, Earthquake Survival

Hot-air hand dryers are less sanitary than paper towels in public restrooms.

confirmed

In a preliminary test, Adam and Jamie found that washing their hands properly with soap did not leave behind enough bacteria for them to count, so in the remaining tests, participants only used water to wash their hands.

Sixteen volunteers were enlisted to have their hands sprayed with a harmless strain of E. coli bacteria. The volunteers’ hands were then swabbed for a sample, then washed using water but no soap, then swabbed again, then dried using paper towels, then swabbed a third time. Next, the entire process was repeated with the same volunteers, but using hand dryers instead of paper towels. On average, the paper towels removed 71% of the bacteria on the volunteers’ hands, while the hand dryers only removed 23%, confirming that the myth is true for individuals.

Adam and Jamie also wanted to find out how clean the drying area of the restroom stayed with each drying method. Before the previous experiment began, the mock restrooms were thoroughly cleaned. After the experiment, swabs from the paper towel area yielded 3 bacteria colonies while swabs from the hand dryer area yielded 41 colonies, confirming that the myth is also true in regards to the cleanliness of the restroom.

If it takes out a line to a house, it's just them. Take out a minor feeder, a few dozen or more houses are affected.
Take out the main line from a power station- everyone is affected.

After our extremely minor Cyclone a few weeks ago, Almost 2/3 of the City & surrounding areas were without power in the immediate aftermath (about half of them were re-connected within 24hrs). I was without power for 4 days. There were several hundred places that were without power for over a week.

Of course, the robot didn’t succeed right away. There were several failed attempts along the way and researchers tweaked the system before the robot was finally able to assemble the chair on its own.

But can a robot put together a kids toy that had the original instructions written in Chinese and translated in to another foreign language three times over?

Of course, it is Ikea.
And it will be made in China, with the instructions written in India. Where they were translated into Hindi before translation into English and other European languages.

Man who ate world's hottest chili is hospitalized with excruciating headaches

A man bit off more than he could chew when he tackled the world's hottest chili, the so-called “Carolina Reaper,” and was left with excruciating headaches.

In the first ever recorded such case, the next few days after eating the veggie the man experienced short splitting pains lasting seconds at a time.

The 34-year-old, who was not identified, had eaten just one of the chilies at a chili eating contest in upstate New York.

Immediately after the competition, he began dry heaving and developed intense neck and head pain starting at the back, which later spread across the whole head.

He then developed crushingly painful headaches and at one point he decided to go to the emergency room.

...

Tests for various neurological conditions came back negative, until scans revealed several arteries in his brain had constricted.

This prompted doctors to diagnose him with thunderclap headache secondary to reversible cerebral vasoconstriction syndrome (RCVS) — a temporary artery narrowing often accompanied by thunderclap headache.

Oh dear.
"It is with great sorrow that we must announce that Tim Bergling, known as the artist Avicii, is dead. He was in Muscat, Oman and found dead on Friday afternoon local time."said his press contact Ebba Lindqvist on Friday night to SVT.
Avicii was a hugely popular artist and one of Sweden's biggest music exporters before finishing the tour at the age of 27. His career is depicted in the documentary "Avicii: True Stories".

During his career, Tim Bergling collaborated with a host of artists like Madonna, Coldplay, Lenny Kravitz, Nile Rodgers, Wyclef Jean and Robbie Williams .

Big Tobacco/Weed and the Tax Collectors are rejoicing.

However, I agree :-)

A win for all including the people. As an aside the prices on the left coast are pretty much the same despite high taxes and the quality is uniformly high.

East Texas police department will "test" your weed for 4/20 Day
An East Texas police department is “helping” people have a “safe” 4/20 Day.

Every year, the 20th day of April is used to celebrate the “cannabis culture” in America.

To help celebrate the unofficial national marijuana holiday, the Marshall Police Department is offering its services for free to test if your marijuana is real.

“Just personally deliver your stash to the PD and K9 Amor will check it out. If it's real, you could receive a free stay in the finest resort in Harrison County,” the police department wrote on Facebook.

We’re going to take a wild guess here, but it’s safe to assume their “finest resort” is the Harrison County Jail since marijuana is illegal in the state of Texas.

Still, that hasn’t stopped law enforcement from poking fun at the day.

“Happy 4/20. ;)” the North Richland Police Department tweeted. “A K9’s favorite holiday.”

Homeowner finds naked stranger in her tub, eating Cheetos
MONROE, La. (AP) - Police in Louisiana say a woman came home to discover a naked stranger in her tub, eating her Cheetos while taking a bath.

A Monroe police affidavit says 29-year-old Evelyn Washington was arrested on burglary and property damage charges.

The Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports that a responding officer found "a full tub of water and a plate of food along with half eaten Cheetos belonging to the victim on the toilet next to the tub."

Washington told the homeowner and police that an unknown male had told her to break into the house. Police found a tall ice chest under a broken window.

It's unclear if she has a lawyer.
