what i am concerned about is why there's so much secrecy. and also why pilots and soldiers in the US will get ridiculed or have their careers potentially affected if they report UFOs. they could be natural phenomenon that can affect flight safety, why discourage pilots to report about them?
If it were to be reported by the worlds media and the press that UFO's are real and that there are ET's, the whole world would go into panic. You'd have rioting in the streets, civil unrest, all major religions would collapse, governments would fall etc etc.

General public reports of UFO's can be dismissed as not viable, a bit different with a professional soldier or pilot that has some standing.

Nobody knows what these UFO's are, but if they were found to be genuine, they would have to keep the lid ion it. Administrations can't afford to play it any other way.

CNN yesterday:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-2b4qSoMnKE

Luis Elizondo, a former military intelligence official who ran the Pentagon's secret UFO unit, says it is his personal view given all the evidence he's seen that we may not be alone.

thoughts anyone?

And what is this statement based on?
While I agree that there would be a period of adjustment...I really do not think it would be total collapse......and besides if they are close by....then when it is an acceptable time....they will make themselves known...and not through some shaky distant light in the sky shot with a 1960's type recorder...
There will be no mistake....There is no lid big enough...:-)

Based on what I have seen regarding many people's religious beliefs I too think the masses are not ready for such a revelation. But I also believe that there is no reliable evidence of visitation by aliens.

You forget the masses as you put it...never have to be ready...they will go along as they have done down through history...usually that meant going into war on behalf of a govenment who had a different agenda then the masses...
No. We under estimate the ability of people to change....many on here can probably remember when there was no such thing as a computer or the internet...or words like Google Yahoo and the like....
Religions will adapt...as they already are.......some things just can not be put off indefinitely...the digital age came when we were ready....
SETI is good...however I think the radio signal they will eventually pick will be shatteringly closer then we were expecting!!!
But it will be non human none the less...:-)
