I wasn't thinking anything about governments Grant, but over here the shakes that we do get are mostly caused by old mine workings collapsing in on themselves.

Cheers.

Well I hope most of those days are over Wiggo even gold mines now are doing open stripping these days.
I know of one copper mind that gets a lot of gold and copper both out of the same hole.

You may be on to something. I found that there was a gold, silver, and copper mine in the area in 1865. Not exactly where the quakes were, but there could have been other less documented mines.

7.5 Quake rattles Papua New Guinea

A magnitude-7.5 earthquake struck the Pacific country of Papua New Guinea, the US Geological survey says.
The quake hit early on Monday morning in a central region of the country's main island of New Guinea at a depth of 35 kilometres.
About a half an hour later a second earthquake with a magnitude of 5.5 in the same area with a depth of 39 kilometres.
There were no immediate reports of damage.

Gold here sure but copper I'm not sure about. Copper and gold in Arizona and New Mexico.
if the one that I was at ever craps out in Arizona has a place to dump garbage for 200+ years maybe even longer. Or one hell of a swimming pool. LOL

Hawaii volcano eruption sends lava into residential area, prompting evacuations.

Hawaii’s Kilauea volcano erupted Thursday releasing red lava into a residential neighborhood and prompting mandatory evacuation orders for thousands of people in nearby homes.

Hawaiian County Civil Defense said steam and lava poured out of a crack in Leilani Estates, which is near the town of Pahoa on the eastern side of the Big Island.

Residents in the Puna community of about 10,000 were told to evacuate, Hawaii News Now reported. Officials are going door-to-door urging residents to flee.

"People need to remain vigilant and prepared and informed, and think about their family and business and response plans," said Tina Neal, scientist-in-charge with the USGS Hawaiian Volcanoes Observatory.

A “plume of ash” has been reported in the vicinity of Pahoa.
