Berkeley Rocks
I was just awoken by a small earth quake. Guessing 4.7 next to Berkeley or Pleasant Hills. Very close to where many of our Bay Area friends live. Wonder how the raccoons are doing?

Update. I nailed the location but over estimated it's magnitude . USGS just posted this. Blue dot is me. Red rings are the quake location.

Ok today My friend and I got back from town and I mentioned that I thought I felt the house move back and forth, she concurred and had thought that until I mentioned it that she must have been imagining it.

Another slow motion quake. Everything has been quiet since about 2pm on Monday, seems We felt an after shock of the 7.1 quake from Ridgecrest.

A volcano has erupted on White Island in New Zealand’s Bay of Plenty, with reports people on the island have critical injuries.

A massive emergency operation is under way after a volcano erupted on New Zealand’s White Island.

Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern said up to 100 people were on or near the volcano, also known as Whakaari, at the time of the eruption and a number were “unaccounted for”.

However, NZ Police have now revised that figure to under 50 people.

It’s understood many of those on the island were tourists visiting on a cruise ship.

Apparently one confirmed dead, 20 still missing. 23 taken from the island "most of them" with burns.

Edit- 5 now confirmed dead.

Risk of eruption delays Whakaari / White Island recovery efforts.

New Zealand's Whakaari/White Island victims are all covered by state compensation. Here's why.

I'm just amazed that some want the rest of the bodies recovered immediately no matter what, but they're not the ones that will be out there risking their lives to do that recovery with another "cough" being expected.

Puerto Rico struck by 5.8-magnitude quake.

There's been no mention about the Arecibo Observatory though.

Cheers.

Arecibo was closed by the earthquake.

No news about when it will re open. But it looks like it did not suffer any major damage.

Either i'm hearing things & getting the shakes, or we just had a small quake...

Edit- it wasn't just me. A neighbour agrees, the Earth moved.

Edit- looks like another Quake in Indonesia.
M6.1 Tanimbar Islands
Been felt as far south as Katherine (300km SSW of Darwin).

I'm worried this is going to be a another bad one for Indonesia.

https://www.cnn.com/2020/03/18/us/utah-earthquake/index.html
(CNN)A 5.7 magnitude earthquake shook Utah's Salt Lake City area Wednesday morning, cutting power to tens of thousands and suspending work at the state's public health lab amid the coronavirus pandemic, officials said.
Inbound flights to Salt Lake International Airport were being diverted as workers inspect runways, the Federal Aviation Administration said.
The quake was centered about 10 miles west of Salt Lake City and very near the city of Magna, starting at 7:09 a.m. MT, the US Geological Survey said.

They aren't as prepared as the ring of fire is. Hope for the best.

6.6 or 7.0 depending on agency off the Greek island of Samos, which is close to Turkey. Turkey has reported the most damage, with several high rise blocks collapsing. As seen in https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MkVxQJYg9ec&feature=emb_logo, casualties as yet unknown.
