Important to remember, the Korean 'Conflict' was a UN 'Policing' operation(that's what it was termed at the time), and the partitioning of Korea was a UN negotiated action.

The USAwas the only 'Big Stick' available to enforce the UN action(as has been the case in nearly every UN sponsored activity since it's inception).

Unfortunately for the entire world, it would appear that the Napoleonic Fat Boy will not listen to reason from anyone..............there may be 'Mushrooms' blooming over Pyongyang yet.............time to 'put down' the mad dog before he bites someone.

"The failure of North Korean and Chinese officials to arrange a meeting between Chinese President Xi Jinping’s envoy and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un was a snub to Beijing and a further sign of strained ties between the communist neighbours, diplomatic observers said."

Because Lil' Kim doesn't listen anyone. He wants to do what he wants to do. Simply.
Lil' Fat Boy had passed many red lines. All possible diplomatic efforts have been made. As written by Von Clausewitz ''War is the continuation of politics by other means''.

Understanding that any Military Response to Kim. Or a failed attempt to 'neutralize' this Evil Mass Murder. Will lead to unimaginable consequences.

As I have repeatedly said. All actions and inactions carry the seeds of disaster.

Will the moral and ethical act first? I have my doubts.
The 'moral and ethical' have their hands pretty much tied by the blizzard of snowflakes who refuse to believe Dim Bulb Un will act, and refuse to accept the historic precedents that should compel 'moral and ethical' individuals to act first.

There is also the stigma of George the 2nds adventure in Iraq in search of WMD. Whether the intelligence was faulty or it was just an excuse to topple So Damn Insane in a vendetta, the recriminations still reverberating through the hallowed halls of Gooberment would give even Solomon cause for pause.

The person understanding both the necessity to act soon AND the ramifications of such action is Sec Mattis. He has experienced first hand the horrors of war and sending men and women to possibly sacrifice their lives in the cause.

The only way the US will escape or limit a conflict in the North is if China now realizes the mad dog on their border can actually turn on it's master and bite. The best scenario for North, South, Japan and the US is about 2 million Chinese Army troops pouring over the border to seize control and establish a denuclearized puppet.

If that happens the world would be very well advised to allow it. It's not at all like Crimea which was a transparent grab by Russia of territory with a warm water port.

The immoral and unethical call for preemptive murder, for the purpose of cementing their power structures.

Well, he got his "wish"... NK ICBMs can apparently now reach any part of the continental U.S.

North Korea’s Longest Missile Test Yet

Reports are saying that the missile test was highly lofted and landed in the Sea of Japan some 960 km (600 miles) from the launch site. They are also saying the missile reached a maximum altitude of 4,500 km. This would mean that it flew for about 54 minutes, which is consistent with reports from Japan.

If these numbers are correct, then if flown on a standard trajectory rather than this lofted trajectory, this missile would have a range of more than 13,000 kilometers (km) (8,100 miles). This is significantly longer than North Korea’s previous long range tests, which flew on lofted trajectories for 37 minutes (July 4) and 47 minutes (July 28). Such a missile would have more than enough range to reach Washington, D.C., and in fact any part of the continental United States.

I've already heard a call to nuke DPRK after the launch today.

All I have to say is DPRK thanks Mr Rump for making them feel less secure and accelerating their development programs.

Of course you do.
Yes they do, they build ICBM's that can attack Florida. That's advanced.

Just because you want a different "advanced" doesn't mean it isn't advanced.

Anyone participating in or attending the Winter Olympics will regret their choice.

Big Slime Mold will not be able to resist the opportunity to 'make a big noise' while the world is focused there.

Munich '72 will look like a teddy bear picnic in comparison.

China expresses "grave concern" over North Korean missile test

BEIJING (Reuters) - China expressed "grave concern" on Wednesday after North Korea fired what appeared to be an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) that landed close to Japan.

https://www.yahoo.com/news/china-expresses-grave-concern-over-north-korean-missile-073154381.html

Grave concern. So? One more time the Fat Man has passed the red line. Who could is the next target? South Korea? Japan? Canada? USA?
In my opinion, a huge mistake is being made. Today launches a missile, tomorrow could start throwing threats or blackmail to get something.

So now this is Trump's fault and not the multitude of administrations that went before all the way back to President Truman.
