Is there anyway we can get at the "bump" that you gain in RAC (or daily credits as listed on BOINC STATS) when you go from cpu-only to something like a Gtx 750 ti (or two) or a Gtx 1060 3GB (or two)?

I suppose I could simply be patient with the "headless" (aka: Gt 710 which is not crunching) box I have now but I like to play the guessing game (sometimes).

You can see what is happening and what RAC will be from these graphs.

I have a GTX 1050 Ti on my Windows 10 PC,with its nVidia drivers I get from Geforce, not overclocked. Since I am not a GPU expert I simple report what happens on it. GPUGRID tasks overheat it (80 C) with its fan running 85% and then it stops. Einstein@home tasks run at 73 C and complete successfully. SETI@home tasks work at 67 C but the PC reboots very often. SETI results complete and validate, but I have aborted a lot of them since I don't like reboots.

I forgot to add climate prediction.net which has been running 10 days without any reboot, to which it is very sensitive.

To control your gpu and/or cpu over heating I can highly recommend TThortle under Windows.
https://efmer.com/ It is free.

Try the defaults (except it sounds like the GPU should be set to 75 degrees C).

Don't forget to click on "activate" on the first page and locate the "run TThortle on startup" and the box below it.

I think this might take care of the Seti reboots by keeping your cpu at or under 60 degrees C. It will slow the processing down on the cpu but should keep the gpu from locking up while running at nearly full speed.

If whole PC is rebooting, it might be due to CPU/memory, not a GPU. I know that seti cpu apps, if machine or overclock is unstable cause a reboot.

If GPU is overheating or unstable OC, usually only driver reboots, not a whole PC.

LHC@home tasks (no GPU), Einstein@home tasks (both CPU and GPU), GPUGRID (GPU) run on the same Windows 10 PC with an AMD A10-6700 without any reboot. I check them by Maintenance/Reliability on the Control Panel and I don't see any error. Only when SETI@home is running I see a lot of errors.

When was the last time you blew the dust out of your pc? And/or reseated your memory chips?

That is really odd. All the tasks you aborted were in stock seti. And most were from the gpu side. You might try installing an slightly older video driver directly from NVidia.

It's TThrottle as in "Throttle a device controlling the flow of fuel or power to an engine."

I have 3 PCs, a 2008 Vintage SUN workstation with a GTX 750 Ti running SuSE Linux Leap 42.3, a 2012 HP Laptop, no graphic board, running SuSE Linux Leap 15.0 with the 4.12 kernel of the SuSE Leap 15.0 Enterprise Edition and a 2014 HP desktop with a GTX 1050 Ti running Windows 10. The more reliable unit is the SUN WS with its Opteron 1210. Hats off to SUN! (now unfortunately Oracle).

Are you expecting the results to be any different? I don't believe the 2080's have shipped yet.

Sept 20 is the date I remember for that.
So it will be interesting to see how long after that date till the first RTX results start showing up here at Seti.

I will be curious also. I don't believe that there will be that much demand considering the prices of the new cards. If I was to bet on who will get the first card, my money is on Petri.

He did post in another thread that he was happy with his Titan V & wasn't going to get one (at lest not right away).
As long as some new form of Crypto mining doesn't take off, they should be more affordable in 6 months or so.

I think you could make a better case for used Gtx 1080Ti's and larger PSU to run them.

Saw the news yesterday that the 2080Ti's are delayed a week. So first available September 27 and not the 20th. 2080's are still supposed to be available on the 20th.
