I was able to lower the TV as much as I could, and I put the picture in Stretch mode, the TV picture looks better now.

It's not a true SD signal, it's a degraded HD signal, a signal closer to HD than SD.
As to the lady, that's a news caster on KTLA5 in Los Angeles CA.

Cable is available, but the prices went up, people are not happy with Spectrum Cable.

The power cord that the TCL 55S401 is currently using, is the one that the Samsung used, one part in common between both the TCL and the Samsung TV's.

Digital TV antenna can bring in HD 16:9 1080i, Dolby Digital, Multilingual, CC and ratings. That's the highest I've seen around here. I know a lot of folks that have checked this out and dropped cable. One months of Comcast/Xffinity cable will buys antenna, mast with money left over.

AntennaWeb.org can show you the channels in your area. I've heard Vic mention Barstow so here's channels for there. They get 5 channels.
http://www.antennaweb.org/Stations?Address=Barstow%2C%20CA%2C%20United%20States&AntennaHeight=True&Latitude=34.8957957&Longitude=-117.0172826

Put your address in here or Zip Code and it will show what your can receive in your area. Most of the bigger analog TV stations now transmit digital over almost the same foot print area as before.

http://www.antennaweb.org/Address

I get 48 channels with mine and I'm 40 miles south of Seattle behind hills.

I'm in Yermo CA actually, the area has a UHF Sat TV Translator, 11 of 12 channels, 23.1 has a bad line card, I wish they'd fix or replace that, all the channels are from Dish Network, the county pays $3,000 a month, and they need to update the website, since it is out of date...

They say we shall have to buy new TV sets in Italy because a new protocol willl be used to work on different frequencies while today's frequencies will be assigned to cell phones. I have a Samsung LED TV bought in 2014 and I am using it mainly as a monitor for a Windows 10 PC. It is also connected to a Sky decoder. It seems that I shall have to buy a new decoder too, and Sky is already advertising the new decoder.

Switching to Real Estate, I found a Condo, down in San Bernardino CA, it has 2 bedrooms, and 3 bathrooms(this is from the ad, later it says 2.25 bathrooms, go figure), is 906 sqft in size, hopefully SB-3 Veterans and Affordable Housing Bond Act of 2018. (2017-2018) will pass with the Voters here in CA on November 6, 2018, it's a Statewide Ballot(Bond) Measure. $1 Bn for Vets, and $3 Bn for those who qualify, covers down payments and money for any needed upgrades/repairs. I'd have to get a moving company, and it's 82.3 miles from where I live at now, but it's 35.3-45.0 miles to My relatives place in Pomona, and a bit bigger than My place, 810sqft vs 906sqft, an increase of 96sqft.

Mind you this is just something to talk about, Real Estate comes and goes, though how fast varies, in Real Estate it's location, location, location.
This place has been up online for sale for 32 days. And the House Style: Mediterranean, Master bedroom is on the ground floor...
Fits a stackable washer/dryer, I wonder does the place have a gas range and refrigerator too? Neither is mentioned...

A place like this would only need Me to move in and to pay for utility deposits, and being a Condo it has an HOA fee, how much that is, is not spelled out.

At least the Condo is on the ground, has a garage, and a parking space, I've no idea if Cable is there either, currently the price has a holiday buyer special of $93,000.00, otherwise the price is $97,000.00.

Cash buyer Holiday special deal $93,000. 2 Bedroom with 2.25 bath. New remodeled down stairs condo. New paint, new laminate wood floor. Crown molding. The fireplace in the living room. Laundry area in the hallway that fits a stack-able washer and dryer. Balcony with sliding glass door off the dining room area to enjoy lounging outside. Unit comes with a one car garage and one assigned parking space. Location has convenient access to 10, 210 and 215 Freeways

Property taxes, school bonds, vector control, and fire is $1,181.14 a year or about $98.43 a month.

Today the park had a large explosion, it set off a car alarm or two, I looked outside, nothing.

On My previous post, the Condo has a gas range, oops, missed that.

One last big post on the TV...

Ok I have some good news, My missing Magnavox VHS/DVD remote control, is no longer missing, YAY!

I'd placed it on an open box, on top of an envelope, and a shipping box from the DOA main board got piled on top of that, daylight helped.

So I just need to replace that DOA main board for $44.75 total in December, and the Samsung UN55D6050TFXZA will be repaired, since a New Other IR sensor cable is on the way, that cost $14.00, instead of $15.95, the old TV can access youtube, but the "new"(Refurbished) tv doesn't seem to be able to do that, and the new main board will have some sort of passive heatsink to cool the chip with, at least that is what I get from the seller, since without that, the chip slowly burns out, and the main board is built with a heatsink in mind, it has 4 holes around the main chip.

And on the new TV, I think I've made as much physical adjustments as I can, the TV is 30lbs, the TV and the stand is somewhere between 40-50lbs, that is a bit harder to move than just the TV.

The one thing this new tv lacks is component video input, for the moment I'll use the composite video and audio input, Amazon sells a Component to HDMI converter box that does upscaling, but that would need a short 3' component cable, and I do have an hdmi cable, I'll have to buy another hdmi cable when the Xbox One X gets here, I think, possibly sometime in February 2018, I'm being told to be patient on the email for the Xbox One X, quite a few are winning this, about 10,000 or so, that's a lot to keep track of, and give away to the auction winners, some asked why I couldn't go and win a few more, it doesn't work that way, one Xbox One X is all anyone is allowed to win, yep just 1, that's the main rule. So this is as low as the TV stand will go, and the TV picture is very sharp.

Vic, why have you posted 12 pictures of a condo costing $97,000 that you can't afford to buy?

Have you looked into the details of this B-3 Veterans and Affordable Housing Bond Act of 2018? It only covers down payments and money for any needed upgrades/repairs. It might yet not get voted through, although unlikely, and you don't yet know if you are eligible.

I'd have to get a moving company, and it's 82.3 miles from where I live at now, but it's 35.3-45.0 miles to My relatives place in Pomona, and a bit bigger than My place, 810sqft vs 906sqft, an increase of 96sqft.
$97,000 for an increase of just over 11%?

No I don't have $800.00, I have $2.61 now.

Well I'm broke until the 1st, so far.
You couldn't even afford the moving costs.

In addition you would need to get a loan or mortgage for the rest of the cost. But there is a limit on how much you can borrow under the scheme.

The fair market rent, which indicates the amount of money that a given property would require if it were open for leasing, for a two-bedroom apartment is $1,386. To afford this level of rent and utilities, without paying more than 30 percent of income on housing, a household must earn an hourly “housing wage” of $26.65 per hour. This means that a person earning minimum wage must work an average of three jobs to pay the rent for a two-bedroom unit. In some areas of the state, these numbers are even higher.
That means that any housing loan under SB3 can not exceed 30% of income. £270 a month will NOT buy you a house. There are further documents I have seen laying it out further. With the outgoings you already have on existing loans and credit cards, you simply cannot afford any more money on a further loan.

Responsible authorities will not lend people money they cannot sensibly afford to pay back as they will only end up in a default situation with re-possession costs. Many years ago the Building Society rules in the UK were 3 x your salary and 1/2 your wife's for the maximum loan. Similar sensible restrictions. Before you call me a liar and I don't know what I'm talking about check it out for yourself.

Mind you this is just something to talk about

Oh I see.

This isn't the UK, and at present I don't have the moving costs, there fixed that.

It needs a good down payment, that if you've read My post, means a Bond Measure has to pass, Voters have a good track record on that here, and that is SB-3, not as you put it, since you repeat a passage as conditions are now, so another misstatement shot down.

SEC. 2. The Legislature finds and declares all of the following:

(d) California is home to 21 of the 30 most expensive rental housing markets in the country, which has had a disproportionate impact on the middle class and the working poor. California requires the third highest wage in the country to afford housing, behind Hawaii and Washington, D.C.

It's obvious you quoted the wrong area of the Law, Chris S, your quoted the Declarations...

And 11%? Where did you get that? In London? This isn't the UK, last I looked California is a part of the US, not the UK, CA has never been a part of the UK, the US broke away in 1776...

Do you want to try again?

I do know about that, I lived thru that, SB-3 provides a much larger down payment, the usual down payment assistance is like 5%.

And I do know of a manufactured home area down in San Bernardino CA, where the homes and the land are sold together.

We had a similar problem in London some years ago. House prices even outstripped the salaries that the financial whizkids were earning, so Docklands flats going at £750K-1 mill had to have 6 or 7 times salary to afford them. Then came a world recession and a local double dip recession, and re-possessions were running into the many hundreds. Lose/lose all round.

Vic has got it into his head that as someone on a low income, California is effectively going to give him a free house, with any costs written off until some indeterminate time in the future. Even if they did, he couldn't afford to run it, and a nicer house in a nicer area will incur higher property taxes. He reads into things what he wants to and won't be told any different.

You quoted the Declarations, not Me.
