How about Vic plays by the same rules as everybody else.
He's got the red-x to flag any posts for the mods that he feels are offensive.
Just like everybody else.

Meow.

Should the mods have to waste time actioning red-x's from Vic when the post is constructive criticism, that it is quite possible the mod agree's with the constructive criticism.

And if that is the case, they shall notify Vic of same, and he will learn what are acceptable posts by others, and what are not.

Well, when I was functioning in a less than optimal state of mind, I got cut a fair amount of slack by the mod crew.
Thankfully, those days are over now for me.

Er yes that is what he is doing, who said the rules were any different.

I am now confused.

The difference was that at one point, Vic thought that any post that he simply did not like or that didn't adhere to HIS rules was a moddable post.

Correct

If Vic asked I would remove any post.

Can someone explain why anyone would bother to continue posting to a thread that they started that is full of post they do not want in their thread?

I and it seems others were under the apparently mistaken belief that a thread started controls their own thread, post do not have to break the forum rules to be removed.

If as here the thread starter believes the post to be negative then can ask for them to be removed.

Apparently this is not the case and in any thread the posts can only be removed if they break the forum rules.

I will add this is news to me and I will not be starting any threads if I cannot say what does and does not appear in my thread

Exactly what I was getting at.

And that comment was a clarification of your mindset as a mod.
Thank you for that also.

OK perhaps there has been a misunderstanding I was (and still am) under the impression that a thread started has the right to control what is said in their own thread.

But I see that people feel that this is not a good idea, so be it. If others are happy then setting rules at the start of a thread can only apply to FORUM rules not you own.

Is that what people want?

Going back a bit:

Ok enough time has passed, Maybe I ought to say something I was told back in June.

My Doc said no heavy lifting in June, I don't know how much this is, and the problem might be normal after surgery, or it might be cause I took some Naproxen Sodium tablets for a couple days. Though I have since stopped that.

No lifting probably has more to do with the surgery than the drugs you were prescribed. Particularly after any abdominal surgery, no matter how minor or non-invasive lifting heavy things is a "bad idea" - What is "heavy", well that's a big question, for a power weight lifter then answer is more than it would be for someone who has only lifted less than ten pounds at a time. As a guide, and this is only a VERY rough guide, no more than 50% of your normal lift to that height is OK, so if you normally lift ten pounds above your head then five pounds would be OK, or if you struggle to lift 10 pounds to waist height then five pounds to waist height is the limit. BUT this is only guidance, not a hard and fast rule, as the bigger, and more invasive the operation the lower the limit will be.
The big issue with pain killers is they can mask potentially damaging actions. For example a friend's son, who is a professional soccer player, was out of action for a year because he habitually took a few pain killers before each match; doing so masked a minor injury to his Cruciate Ligament for a couple of matches - finally the ligament ruptured mid match and he was carried off in great agony, two operations and twelve months later he was back in training, but has never fully recovered the control he used to have.

This is getting really confusing.
So, I could start a thread, saying "no negative posts", and then say I've been given a fantastic chance to buy the Golden Gate Bridge for $10000
And I will for sure buy it for that extremely good price.

And when someone then post in the thread, that I must be out of my mind (or similar stuff), for believing that, then I could simply claim it is a negative post, and Red-X it, and have it removed by the mods.

Jesus F'ing Christ.

Why is that wrong?

Surely if the person has read the post, one assumes they have to know they want it removed, then decides to ignore it, then it is down to them.

No one has the right to tell someone how to live, they are suggestions only. (I hope in the case you describe the mod concerned would have already closed the thread and suggest the same to the OP)

And it is far easier in FB to limit those that see one's posts and those that can respond to them.

Sure, but at least those of us who refuse Facebook, won't have to see it :-)

Well the idea of this thread was so that those who did not wish to see what was being posted here, did not have to look here.

Quite simple really.

I'd like to do this, this, and that, and maybe I will eventually, on some, I don't have the room to maneuver like others do, since My income is limited.
In one of your previous threads, you told others to take a walk in your shoes before commenting. I found that laughable!

You have a regular income & limited - Yes. I ceased to exist for 4 years because the system cocked up big time & all I got in return was "Oops, you slipped through the cracks".

Those cracks put me on the street with practically all that I worked 40 years for lost. It's been tough going but I'm well back on my feet no thanks to the system or any handouts.

We've seen your posts over the years & taking nothing away from you, you do have a serious issue that you need to address. Prioritise. Mark gave you a sensible piece of advice in curbing your use of credit cards - your answer was?

Pay interest and reduce your disposable income. The poor are the ones who can least afford reduction of disposable income. Pay down the cards as fast as you can and you'll be eventually able to buy more stuff than you can at present.

There is wiggle room in the words "off topic".

Say I began a thread about widgets. In the original post I state, this is a thread about widgets. If you want to talk about widgets, please do so here. Post unrelated to widgets will be removed.

As the OP, I have the right to red-flag posts about what-it's because they are off topic in my thread about widgets.

Perhaps I will be magnanimous, take the high road and ignore all your what-it's posts in my widget thread. This does not take away my right to red flag your off topic post in my widget thread. It just means that I have chosen not to bother with your what-it post today.
