Vic, while I hope you win an x-box I have my doubts that your total will be anywhere near enough :-( I say this because families, clubs and organised groups will be taking part and they can muster tens or hundreds of collectors, while you only have a handful of people supporting you. Remember this campaign is a calous marketing ploy by Coke, not a charitable give-away.

dvi & HDMI both carry sound and vision through a single connector. There are adaptors that allow you to extract the sound component allowing that to be fed to another device, such units are quite commonly used in the a/v industry to send the vision to screens an the sound to the pa. Further there are adaptors that allow a single source to feed multiple devices. I no idea of the prices or sorcrs for them, and being away from him the searches are next to impossible just now.

Your points are all correct.
Anybody sitting around stuffing bag after bag of Doritos into their face and washing them down with cases of Mountain Dew in the hopes of winning the xbox are all on a fool's errand.
Kinda like the Publisher's Clearing House scam of the ages.

Electric cars. Apart from Tesla the current offerings are not very suitable for longer distance travel. I've not seen any figures yet on the Mustang, but, sadly, I doubt it will have the rang-performance profile of the Tesla. Much the same can be said about the offerings from Audi, BMW and Jaguar, all of which fall down on range.
We wait and see.

The Nisan claims for the extended range of the Leaf are somewhere around 50 to 80 miles over both the European an US "official" range, which is a big error. Friends in CA have an older Tesla, updated to the middle battery and they say it gets about 90% of its claimed range.

So SB3 still has to become law, and only a deadline for its vote of the end of next year. Then there will be a period in which all the burocracy grinds into gear before the first cent is dispersed to the likes of yourself. That is assuming it does get its vote in time. Serious question, if that vote doesn't happen in time what happens to the legislation? (does it die, or does it get differed for another year?).

It's only for the Bonds, the law remains, only chapter 2 is being voted on, Chapter 1 is active now.

SB-2 is similar, but without any Bonds, it goes thru real estate transactions instead.

SB-3 Veterans and Affordable Housing Bond Act of 2018. (2017-2018)
SB-2 Building Homes and Jobs Act.(2017-2018)

My question still stands, all be it in a slightly modified form.
If the vote fails, either because it is too late, of because the required majority is not reached does the relevant part of the legislation die, or does it get deferred to another vote at a later time. (This is a question that relates to the general process, not only to the specific case of the bonds and SB3)

Given Vic has a GTX980 (or is it a GTX970?) which has audio over HDMI and by the sound of it is looking to buy a new monitor there are a couple of solutions. If the new monitor only has dvi then put the gtx9x0 into service and use the dvi output from that, getting a suitable adaptor if/when the x-box arrives. The next is to get an HDMI monitor, use the gtx9x0 HDMI output, and again if the x- arrives either use the second HDMI input on the monitor or get a simply HDMI input switch if required.
Whatever I would be putting that gtx9x0 onto service, they run so much cooler than previous generations they don't require liquid cooling.

Vic is running an i7-4820K with 16Gb Ram, and a GTX 580. So yes a GTX 980 or 970 would be an big improvement if he has one. Most modern graphics cards do not need water cooling that is for petrol heads into overclocking cpu's and memory, and tweaking BIOS settings to the limits. Sounds flash just costs money and is more trouble than it's worth.

The 980 has an HDMI connection.

The 580 has an HDMI connection, or at least the one in my hand does.

I need to try and get an Asus 970 Turbo card for this PC in February(or March at the latest)

No you don't NEED to, you would just LIKE to. With all that debt hanging over your head, nobody can see why you would sensibly spend one cent on computer parts. Or a Mustang for that matter.

And you seriously want people to lend you tens of thousands of dollars for a mortgage?

Chris the card is old, and draws a lot of power, it sucks, so please hush, or pay My electric bill, until then you don't get a say...

If you worry about the elecy bill then forget the 970 and get a 1060. It will be cheaper in the long run.

Items found on ebay, uk site but absolutely certain they will be available in US.
HDMI to HDMI & Optical SPDIF + RCA L/R 1080P 5.1CH Audio Extractor Converter 5V £3.99 (about $5)

and
5 Port HDMI Switch Switcher Splitter Full HD for HDTV DVD PS3 + IR Remote £2.85 (about $3.50)

Connect computer GPU o/p and Xbox to the switch.
Connect o/p of switch to splitter input.
connect hdmi o/p of splitter to monitor
and connect speakers to the phono skts.

If you use a set-top box for TV reception then that could also be connected to the switch.

Hi Joker...sorry, I mean zoom314. Long time no see. You should let your friends know how you came to own a Mustang in the past. And that you bought brand new at the time. And why you are now driving what you are now. And remember... on the internet...you can be whomever you say you are. As long as people believe it...it`s true. :) Talk to you soon. Miss you buddy.

No, it's old history, I do not have to get approval from the public, don't like that?

Tough...

My rights are the same as yours Mark, er kittyman, I can ask the same thing...

Vic, I have taken all my skeletons out of the closet and put them on display here on Seti. Closet is empty now.

I'd need at least another $236.00 a month in income, which I'll get when I'm 62, I'm 57 now
How are you going to get another $263.00 dollars when you are 62?
My wife had to go on SSI when she was 53. She had no raise in benefits when she turned 62. When she turned 66 she went from SSI to getting social security with no raise either.
Her best friend worked under the table for most of her life and gets only $400 a month. You get what you worked for not anything more. Yeah, You get COLA but then they raise the part B deductible so what kind of raise is that?
You bitch and moan you don't have enough money to fix things, but you buy crap from E-bay. And then post you cant make ends meet. And in the next post your going to buy a freaking Mustang.
I really think you need to be in a VA hospital.

Moving on from the slanging match and back a bit (I've been traveling for most of the last 30 hours...)
The power consumption difference and the fact that the GTX1060 is a new card rather than a second hand one of unknown pedigree should convince you that it is worth waiting the extra time.

BTW - That Carbon Monoxide detector is in the wrong place. Carbon Monoxide is very slightly LESS dense than air so tends to accumulate high up in rooms. Down near the floor, by what looks like a vent in the floor, will give you ZERO warning of toxic levels, and in the event of a fault in one of your gas appliances that causes Carbon Monoxide to be produced you will have a room (or home) full of the gas, and be lying unconscious, or dead, on the floor long before the alarm goes off.

When I suggested the 1060 I should have included the memory spec, Vic has chosen top of the range, 6gb version, for his price comparison.
If he were to go for the 1060 3gb version, it has a very slightly better performance than the 970 and only costs at NewEgg between $199 and $229.

So the price difference is actually only $10, not $110.

The only dual 970 or dual 6GB 1060 rigs that beat my 2 dual 3GB 1060 i5 rigs are either running Linux with Special Sauce or have many more CPU cores than my rigs do, now there's something to think about. Also I very rarely see them use 70% of their TDP (usually they're between 50-65% TDP). ;-)

[edit] just check the Top Host lists if you don't believe me.

Cheers.
