Great news, Eric! Anything that enhances our search is welcome indeed. Do hope that the servers can handle the increased bandwidth that it's going to take. Meow! "Time is simply the mechanism that keeps everything from happening all at once." |

Is the double size the new standard then? I don't suppose we can get a bandwidth graph? |

Is the double size the new standard then? Dang, I wish I knew of one. We lost those a long time ago here. I used to keep them in an open window all the time. They were a very good tool when one is trying to monitor how the servers are doing. Either not possible or impractical to add one to the colo, I suppose. And probably not considered necessary or useful enough for the project to justify any expenditure of time or effort on it. Meowdarn. I must admit, the message addition only seems to have been for a couple of tasks. Since I restarted BOINC I haven't seen it again. But then again, I haven't had any more KIC8462852's either. :( Got another couple of blcs with the header, but this time HIPs. 09/09/2017 14:07:42 | SETI@home | [http] [ID#42] Sent header to server: GET /sah/download_fanout/19a/blc05_2bit_guppi_57903_46950_HIP9480_0002.21182.409.23.46.26.vlar HTTP/1.1 09/09/2017 14:07:42 | SETI@home | [http] [ID#42] Sent header to server: Accept-Language: en_GB 09/09/2017 14:07:42 | SETI@home | [http] [ID#42] Sent header to server: 09/09/2017 14:07:42 | SETI@home | [http] [ID#42] Sent header to server: the galaxy). And if this is a buffer thing, then why only on these new tasks and why always that one sentence? Edit: having made a capture, and gone through it, I don't think this header is actually sent. The capture doesn't make note of it. |

Why did we stop crunching the *DIAG_KIC* data? They seems to be put in some pause mode when it comes to the splitters, and we're only doing *HIP* data again. The BL splitters *always* seem to switch to the latest batch of data loaded, and leave behind whatever they were working on before until the new batch is complete. I'm surprised you haven't noticed that before. |

If the download size has doubled to roughly 766 kilobytes does that mean that the upload sizes have increased as well? |

If the download size has doubled to roughly 766 kilobytes does that mean that the upload sizes have increased as well? Nope. Upload file sizes remain the same. Grant Darwin NT |

Eric Korpela User ID 24735 Is there a project you can start to process data collected from the "Tabby's Star (KIC 8462852)" on the SETI site. Like we do for SETI@home??? Our founder Boomer (User ID 9091807) from the New Mexico Group, said that there is no more data being collected come out of the Arecibo Radiotelescope. Are we are just getting the last of the Work Units on SETI. Thanks in advance. Kristyanna Virgona (User ID 695028) |

Thanks Dr. Korpela. :) I've been an avid helper between a number of different computers and clients over the years and I really am excited by what you and everyone who's helped you have done with this project. Will be with you until the ultimate goal is reached as long as I have the means and ability to be. |

There's still a large mountain of "old" work to re-process from Arecibo, plus all the work that is coming in from the Breakthrough Listening Project. So no shortage of work to do. Plus there's at least one more telescope coming on line, so don't panic. Bob Smith Member of Seti PIPPS (Pluto is a Planet Protest Society) Somewhere in the (un)known Universe? |

For those who didn't recognize the name KIC8462852 in their work unit names, this data comes from GBT observations of Tabby's Star (aka Boyajian's Star, aka WTF-0001, aka the Weirdest star in the galaxy). This is not yet the full data set, which lives at Penn State, it's some test on-target/off-target observations that we're checking out. hi Eric, do you know if Seti@home might one day be allowed to receive data from China's new radio Telescope ? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Five_hundred_meter_Aperture_Spherical_Telescope |

do you know if Seti@home might one day be allowed to receive data from China's new radio Telescope ? I don't know if he will see this/respond but I can confirm that the team has stated they are definitely interested in getting a receiver on FAST and have done however much can be done at this point to initiate it (I think all that can be is to advise the FAST administrators.) Edit: Thankfully he did and I'm quite happy my info was out of date. I do hope we get some of that data here. |

We're working on it. We're working with the Chinese to design a SERENDIP VI system and a Fast Radio Burst system for FAST. Those system will have a primary scientist who is in China and main data analysis effort will be there. The situation with SETI@home is more complicated, with more cross border interaction.
