If I worked in a school I would certainly get one.
Have to watch out for those 2 legged incubators.

I've been getting the flu shot the last few years because my overall condition weakens my immune system and because I worked in a school. My new job also exposes me to a high risk, so I think I'll continue to get them.

On the other hand, the weather report this morning mentioned that mold in the air is very high, so that may be at least part of my current problem.

I used to worry about shingles, but I never had chicken pox so I quit worrying.

Due to severe asthma, I get the flu shot every year. I'm due to get mine next month. I try to wait until mid to late October so that it will last until February for me.

I've had the shingles' shot, I got that one last year in order to start my Nucala injections to help my asthma. (Nucala, (being a biologic), has a side effect of causing one to get shingles - if one has had Chicken Pox, or the Varicella vaccine.)

Now that I've turned 50, (in June), I've also had the Prevnar13 Pneumonia booster shot.

No cold or shot here, yet, I still have to fill out a form, sigh.

Form filled out, thankfully the only thing with shingles in My family, is My sister in laws roof. LOL
For mere humans one needs chicken pox to get shingles, My dad had both, Me? Nada.

For women: Are you pregnant or are you considering becoming pregnant in the next month? I'm not touching that w/a 10' pole.
Patients 60 years of age or older: Have you ever received the SHINGLES vaccine? ditto...

Now I just have to wait for the Vons Pharmacy to be open, and for Me to be ready to go, it'll happen on Monday, today I'm feeling a bit stiff.

I am going to get a shingles vaccination. My mom said she had them and they are gawdawful.

Sounds nice but doesn`t really help when you still die of the flu.
Happened to a friend of mine.
I never got the flu and i`m not much younger than you.
When it should happen it will happen.

It's a personal choice, Mike.
Here, they are not expensive, covered by health insurance, and I believe they can offer some protection.
And in any case, they have never done me any harm.

That`s fine by me Mark.
I react very strange on shots.
So i try to avoid them.
On my first tetanus i was sick for almost a week.

Most vaccines have a preservative in them and are grown in eggs. Some people have a serious reaction to the preservative others to the egg proteins. This is the first year for the vaccines not being grown in an egg. Also Flu vaccines only protect against the three or four viruses that research suggests will be most common.
I try to avoid vaccines but do take them based on my own assessment of the risk. When my kid were in grade school I would get the flu shot. I will be travelling a bit this winter so I am thinking I should. greater exposure to people in a confined space (airplane). Wondering what other are thinking this year. I appreciate your insights.

It doesn`t help for another variant of the flu.

Flu shots are different every year.
They are updated to cover as many current strains as the researchers are able to identify.
No, they are not absolute or foolproof.
But even if not an exact match for the strain you may get, they often still provide partial strengthening of your immune system towards the altered strain.
