That certainly looks like a firewall issue. There are reports around that Windows 10's latest update "updates" some security settings, I would also look at your anti-virus settings to makes sure that BOINC is positively allowed to communicate with the internet (as opposed to not being listed as blocked) (You will get more responses if you request this thread be moved to "Number Crunching", as there are folks who understand these things better than me in that thread, but the never come in the cafe to relax. To contact a moderator you need to click the tiny red "X" at the bottom left hand corner of the post you want to move, write a brief explanation of what you want done, and wait....) Very frustrating to come in to the office and see the windoze installed updates and then find software fails and you have to manually reconfigure your port exceptions so it works again. ![]() |

Firewall exceptions really shouldn't be required. The Windows firewall has always been what's called a "stateful inspection" firewall. That means any traffic originating from the local computer (such as the BOINC client), responses are automatically allowed back in. Exceptions only need to be added if the originating traffic is a remote computer trying to initiate a connection into the local machine. That being said, your problem does sound firewall related since you say BOINC is stating it can't access any projects. Are you using a third-party firewall other than the Windows built-in firewall? Did a firewall come with your anti-virus software, perhaps? |
